Hi everybody. This is a simple song I wrote in quarantine. The quality of the recording is very bad because I haven’t gotten the hang of it and its just a demo. I hope ya’ll like it! (Sorry abt all the times I went off beat Lol)

I’m going through hard times right now.
Constant feelings I can’t really name.

I like to name instruments. For me it imbues them with added life or personality. I don’t tend to go for girls names. I prefer obscure, silly or pretentious ones. I named this 12 string ‘Castrovalva’ after a Lego space cruiser I had for Christmas in the late seventies or early eighties. I named the space cruiser after an episode of Dr Who.

I uploaded Bitter before but in my opinion this Bitter is better.
I wrote and played it on the 1st January 2023.

I have loved The Happy Somethings since I first heard them when in Azerbaijan about 6 years ago.  We share the philosophy that if we try harder it sounds worse!  I am pleased and honoured that they spontaneously decided to colloborate and be my "ramshackle"  backing band on this song!  a bit like with Buddy Holly's apartment tapes, only I think Buddy's were better before...and Buddy was never bitter.

In 2013 I reached out to the Weighty Tree (Mark) https://soundcloud.com/theweightytree and asked if it would be ok to overdub some lead guitars.  I had had a great time working with Rick Cheehy earlier that year https://soundcloud.com/rickcheehy/sets/the-vercelloni-cheehy and wanted to keep it going.

Mark kindly made a bunch of his instrumentals available and I built upon the platforms one-by-one.  I recently came across the folder of MP3s that I sent back to him and was going through them.  Bayonet resonated.  I jotted down some lyrics and recorded some vocals the next day.

Collaborations are great and have no shelf life.  Keep adding.
