Into The Wild Vol 1. (DEEP / MELODIC  / AFRO HOUSE)

I was thinking about all the long waits in line for Burning Man tickets over the years and decided to give some of you something to listen to while the walking person icon slowly makes its way across the screen holding all our hopes in its little tiny pixel hands. 

The wait time  is usually about as long as it took to get from one side of the playa to the other last year after it rained and the playa shrimp rose up to attempt to take over the world!! 

Burning Mud. Mudding man. Raining man. Remember the wild stories (all from the outside media or Diplo and Chris Rock) vs the kindness and generosity of strangers out on the playa. I hope, even if faced with adversity last year, maybe, just maybe, you also saw how wonderful people can be when called upon in a ‘crisis’. 

I was lucky enough to stay until Tuesday night and grateful to still get to play a sunrise on the Robot Heart albeit a few days later than planned. There was so much love in the air that (finally) beautiful morning. If you missed it or want to listen once more or are just bored and looking for something to distract you while waiting in line for this years tickets (I’ll be waiting too) then here’s burning man/mud/magic 2023.  Feel the love in the air and the tickle of playa shrimp on the soles of your feet.

For pretty much the whole year I’m either headed towards or away from Burning Man. 

Each year out there there’s this moment in space and time where I feel perfectly balanced between the two. It’s a moment where time stands still, just for a second. 

That moment is when the first ember of the day’s sun peaks over the mountain top to begin its journey once more. 

I try to find a piece of music to express the feeling of stillness and presence I get.  This year the sun was kind enough to arrive 1 hour 28 minutes and 40 seconds into this mix. I was in awe. I’m still in awe.

Some of the magic of the playa for me is where the nature blends with boundless creativity. Where love meets wonder and we get to laugh, dance and play. Add a dash of music for good measure and, for a moment, that magic catches its breath to take it all in, and stands still.

2024 was one of my favorite years ever. Thank you to all you artists and lovers, cooks and cuddlers. To all those who toil for months before and after to make it happen and to anyone who gave anything to another. You’re all amazing. I’m currently headed back towards (or is it away from) that moment once more.

It’s been a while since I played DISTRIKT last. After this years experience I’m somewhat kicking myself. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a crowd at Burning Man so wild and fun. The party was electric. Fire! And, it was only Tuesday. ‘Pacing it’ was obviously out of the question for the five thousand or so that joined me. The Robot Heart bus rolled up and plugged in. Hoj tore the place up before me. Our day party extended into night and most of us left with a smile on our faces and an electricity that carried us forward. Beautiful people swung above the crowd in a birdcage (is that safe I kept asking myself in my head)and hips wiggled and swung while the multi-level dance floor bumped and bounced. Basically, best day party at Burning Man ever ever. So, thank you DISTRIKT for giving me an extended set and an amazing party to play. Let’s do it again next year. It’s a date?

Lee Burridge - DISTRIKT Music - Episode 199

Fakir is one of formers of underground, clubscene in Serbia. He got interested in DISCO Music in the beginning of 1980’s and started Djing from collecting those days’ hits. The biggest influence to his work in that period had Patrick Cowley, Giorgio Moroder, as many funky performers had so: Chic, Gap Band, Shalamar… In the end of ‘80s he discovered “Detroit Wave” and Chicago House, followed by Acid-House in starting years of ‘90s. As one of pioneers of new musicwave he started to organize first of private underground parties and it was no long after, he (and DJ Z) became resident performer at two of cultish clubs in Serbia – clubs Contrast and Paradiso. In that period two of them formed a studio and it was birth of one of the first DJ organizations in Serbia – Noise Destruction. In January of 1994 Noise Destruction organized the first big music happening– TECHNO THERAPY at Ice Hall, party which many people remembered by to-that-day-unseen scene performance, LIVE act, Sound sistem and a huge number of visitors. March of 1994 is announced for showing Noise Destruction to Belgrade public at the new-opened club Industrija, and right in that period Fakir and DJ Z started performing all across the Serbia, as in neighbour-countries. Aside to DJing and studio-related work, Fakir and Z started a certain number of radio shows, as right after they started a legendary TV show dedicated to clubscene and culture – RAVE-o-LUTION on national TV. In his 20 years-lasting DJ career Fakir had opportunity to show many DJs to domestic public, which he entertained and worked with. He also was resident DJ of EXIT festival from its birth. Cooperation with EXIT organization gave him opportunity to play for 20.000 people on DJ Arena Stage, but also it gave him opportunity to make new friends among some of the most famous world DJs, such as: Daren Emerson, Sasha, Yuseef, Lottie, King Unique, Lexicon Avenue, Layo & Bushwacka, Marshall Jafferson… as to the other DJs, who he have played with all across the Serbia : Tom Blacksoul,Kevin Yost,Lorca,Luke Solomon,Tribalation,Eddie Richards,Gideon Jackson Terry Francis, Dave Mothersole, H-Foundation, Tony Thomas, Jay Tripwire. He have played at all big parties and festivals in Serbia, which means-beside of EXIT and Pleasures (warm up Hernan Cattaneo, Mathey Dekay i Paul Oakenfold )- Marlboro (with Xpress 2, Groove Armada,Joey Negro,Todd Terry,djHal) etc. Today, Fakir’s “maraton” DJ sets (sometimes up to 12 hours) became significant with deephouse, energical note of Terry Lee Brown Jr., The Timewriter etc. For sure- Fakir is today one of the most respected Serbian DJs with rich music bank, but also with enormous experience which he have delivered to many young DJs for many years. Production-related work of Noise Destruction Studio is shown in tracks Disco Family EP, Skunk EP, Some Kind of Funk – which are published by Neuform – sublabel of big Breeze Dance Division. At the moment, Fakir is resident DJ of Novi Sad’s club “The Avantgarde”. In the next period we can expect some new tracks from Noise Destruction Studio, and Fakir’s DJ sets at the most eminent music events.
