Lake Synevyr in the Ukrainian Carpathians is steeped in mysticism, most famously tied to the legend of star-crossed lovers Syn and Vyr, whose tragic story is said to have formed the lake. Surrounded by misty forests, the lake is believed to emit healing energy and spiritual power, attracting those seeking emotional renewal. Its still waters and central island resemble a watchful eye, earning it the nickname “Eye of the Carpathians.” Locals speak of sudden weather changes and a charged atmosphere, hinting at unseen forces. Ancient pagan rituals and folklore further deepen its reputation as a place where the veil between worlds feels thin.

The Curse of Synevyr

Over many years of songwriting in a number of bands, a huge pool of unused and partially rejected material accumulated. I thought it was a shame to let this material die, because a lot of love, passion and time went into it. At some point I began to collect this unpublished material from various sources such as old tapes, DAW-projects, rehearsal room recordings, tablature, etc. and listen to it again and again. Since I still really liked a lot of it and, with the exception of my main band “Here I Vanish”, all of the bands, some of them quite successful, were gone, I decided to finally release my music on my own. And, as the last survivor, what name would be more apt than “Where Giants Fall I Rise”.
