And now for something completely different...

It is an obvious thing for me to state that I have a big heart for all things techno. It has been the genre which, over the years, has allowed me to express many things and to explore various regions, both artistic and geographically. However, it is by far the only genre which can count on my continued attention. When it comes to dancing and experiencing music on a dancefloor I find that, alongside techno, drum and bass is the one for me. The inherent energy and rhytmic structures of this style are what I appreciate the most. I've spent many nights in various venues listening to sets of high-octane breaks, with as a highlight a visit to London's legendary The End club, which used to be a true haven of drum and bass on Friday nights.

This month's Patreon mix is titled Memorandum, of which I have posted this excerpt on Soundcloud. It is my tribute to drum and bass, not via a selection of classic tracks but through a observation of contemporary breakbeat science. I used to dj drum and bass for a while and have kept those records safe, but I felt as if an exploration of today's sounds was more appropriate. There is a lot of creative music out there, invoking amazing sonic landscapes. A lot of drum and bass producers are very talented sound designers, and true experts at creating a landscape which in my opinion can be both alienating and extremely danceable. Please enjoy.

Embodiment 069 - Agonis

The first full moon of spring, also known as the pink moon, lights up the sky. Covered in soft orange hues, it signals the arrival of the blooming season. But for us it is also a reminder that festivals come to life, and our favourite one, Mostra in Barcelona, is the first one of the list. 

For the 57th page of Selene Series, we pay tribute, as it is now a tradition on this channel, to this beautiful event. Their music curation is second to none, the locations always magical and iconic... but it is the people behind, on and in front of the stages that make it an epic one. 

In this mix we cover the range of sounds that Mostra has to offer in 3 different passages: from ambient and experimental, to deep and psychedelic four to the floor, to mental breaks. A trip only using creations from the artists performing at the festival. We couldn't fit them all though! We hope this mixtape of sorts warms you up for the week that's to come, and perhaps you discover some new sounds along the way.
