FAST_CAST 003: Pilo b2b Carré

Pilo is the main musical output of Los Angeles based producer, composer and sound designer, Cameron Ward. Fusing sounds from a wide gamma of influences ranging from techno and electro to industrial, ambient and beyond, Pilo presents a unique conceptualization of various genres and styles merged by his own signature voice. Whether it’s through the warm but puncturing bass sounds that define his dance-floor oriented material or the oceanic and transcendental aural landscapes contrasted against stochastic drum patterns that are presented throughout his more left-field work, Pilo’s music resonates with the senses, mind and body symbiotically through the vast amalgamation of emotions, environments and textures that define his sonic palette.

Pilo is the main musical output of Los Angeles based producer, composer and sound designer, Cameron Ward. Fusing sounds from a wide gamma of influences ranging from techno and electro to industrial, ambient and beyond, Pilo presents a unique conceptualization of various genres and styles merged by his own signature voice. During the past decade Pilo has established himself as an in demand producer throughout the electronic music scene with releases in labels such as Boysnoize Records, Turbo Recordings and recently his own imprint Motor Reflex which has become a home for a series of collaborative releases and his own more experimental pieces.

 The past few years have seen Pilo reorientate himself and follow an introspective journey that has led him through a creative metamorphosis in search of a greater spiritual connection, a stronger community of artists and an emphasis on experimentation and intuition.

Bean Radio Mix 063: Pilo

Ending 2023 with a very special mix from FAW resident, Carré (@carreo). This was recorded live last month in San Francisco for @clubmoniker at Underground SF.

"Someone at the party described my set as 'really high energy, intricate rhythms, & fun tangents' and I truly think that's the best way to sum it up. When listened to this recording I could hear just how locked in I was, and I'm so happy that was captured. Grateful to Club Moniker for bringing me to play SF for the first time, they're the best. FAST_CAST 014: Carré

Kicking off 2024 with a mix from Los Angeles based DJ / producer John Bryars (@johnbryars). John is recognized for his broad taste and eclectic style, known for pushing boundaries in the pursuit of euphoric, auditory bliss. 

A note from John:
"I'm excited to share this journey, which includes some unreleased tracks off a collaboration EP from myself and Sevyn, coming soon on AL GHARIB (@alllgharibbb). There's also a forthcoming Schacke (@schacke) remix of 'Devotion' by Pilo (@pilo_zkulptor) and myself, coming out on Boysnoize Records."

FAST_CAST 015: John Bryars

Next up we have a proper journey of a mix from NYC-based DJ Reid Golden. Inspired by sci-fi soundscapes and world-building, his DJ sets take you on an intentional ride. While he gravitates towards electro and other psychedelic sounds, he makes it known that all genres are fair game. Formerly of Denver's staple party crew Send/Receive, he now resides in New York City as a devoted patron of the metropolis' chugging club scene.

FAST_CAST 016: Reid Golden

Introducing Dreamrdreamr to the FAST_CAST universe! With a variety of releases under her belt @dreamrdreamr productions showcase a fusion of early melodic rave and with her own personal nostalgic memories of sound. On the dancefloor, Dreamrdreamr will play with sound in a unique way to create mesmerising blends of genres from House, Breaks, Techno, and Jungle with undertones of dreamlike states and euphoria.

A note from Dreamrdreamr about this stellar mix:
"Keeping in mind the labels ethos of fast not hard I have chosen to move uptempo in the 140-160 range. I have tapped into some of my favourite tracks that I have been listening too recently plus some forthcoming and new selects. Starting on some fiery breaks and bass and transitioning through to some blissful and thought provoking jungle blends, the mix sits in the in-between space of emotions."

FAST_CAST 017: Dreamrdreamr

Next up on FAST_CAST we bring you NENE H (@nenetreat) – enjoy two hours of Nene H's incredible set at Fast At Work. This was recorded live on May 3 2024 at Venue MOT in London. 

Berlin-based Turkish-born DJ NENE H has become a powerhouse of Berlin's evolving underground identity–blazing a trail for SWANA, Muslim, queer, and female representation. Whether she's sprinkling trap into a peak-time techno set, or obliterating Berghain in her bridal gown–just when you think you've boxed Beste in, she throws you a curveball that hits you square in the face.

Martha is a DJ and broadcaster from South London with roots in community radio and documentary making. Each of Martha’s thoughtfully curated radio shows navigate the fringes of electronic music, with a clear narrative that is grounded in community and storytelling.

Welcome to the Injection Box 

This new mix series gives members of our extended Omnidisc family the platform to explore the intersections of club functionality and raw emotion.

Our first installment comes from @pilo_zkulptor, a Los Angeles-based producer and DJ known for his gritty, high-voltage sound that fuses electro, techno, and industrial influences. 

Last month, Pilo celebrated his debut release on Omnidisc via Flamingo Park in "Breathe Easy" with @dannydaze. 

With releases on Boysnoize Records, Motor Reflex, and Turbo, Pilo's music is as cerebral as it is physical — a product of years spent pushing dancefloor dynamics into new territory.

In this debut mix, he weaves through strains of body shaking electro and head down techno, showcasing his vast range of influences and intuitive command of tension and release.

Injection Box 001 // Pilo

LA’s Carré kicks off the first in a two-part mix series curated by Darwin, marking a decade of the SPE:C label. Known for her subversive sets and a sharp focus on dubstep, leftfield techno, and bass-driven sounds, her contribution to the RC mix series delivers exactly that.

Darwin: "I met Carré a few years ago when she booked me for her party at Fast at Work in LA. I’d already been playing out her dubs quite a bit and had asked her then to sign to SPE:C. It was really inspiring to meet another woman as dedicated to running events and as passionate about dubstep and bass music as I am. Carré’s flair for lush, dreamy atmospheres is unmatched, and I feel honored to have been able to give her a platform to showcase that. She’s also a killer DJ and played one of the sickest after-hours sets at REEF last spring. You can check out her skills on this mix."

We introduced @CorruptMusicUK to Night Bass via our Volume 6 compilation, and now we're incredibly excited to debut “It’s Not OK”, his first solo Night Bass EP. Vocals from @NatzSoBossy give the title track a soulful flavor before dropping into a ferocious bassline while “Keep It Coming”, “All Massive” and “Loot” are all heavy peak time rave artillery in true Corrupt (UK) fashion. This is UK bassline at it’s finest courtesy of Corrupt (UK).
