Here comes a whistle-stop studio mix from an integral and well-loved Tbilisi local. Rodnevs (real name Saba Basiladze) is really just spreading his wings; he played his first dj set back in Beijing in 2018 but his Horoom debut was as recent as this October. He’s a DJ/Producer whose younger years were spent listening to classical, hip-hop and metal, a disparate mix of musical genres that have refined his approach to electronics. For him, groove is key. You’ll hear it in the serpentine rhythms of his first release (Space Fathers, 2022) and across his growing number of streamed sets, whose dark, alien quality introduce a breadth of modulated soundscapes both strange and wonderful. To his most recent mix, Bassiani Podcast 158: this one’s a gem. Powerful and driving cuts fused with fanatical precision, techno wizardry from a rising member of the Bassiani family.

As the next guest on the Fast Forward Audio Series, we are presenting you with: Sabinē

 Sabinē is the leading figure of the new electronic music generation in Uzbekistan, as well as the co-founder of Sublimation Collective launched an audacious label, which seeks to push boundaries, produce collaborative tracks & give a voice to emerging artists. Today, she is a Riga based DJ, Label manager, producer and promoter, who served as a resident DJ at the One One club (Rīga).    

Sabinē was born in Uzbekistan, in industrial town Chirchik, and shares her love for a variety of evocative techno sounds ranging from industrial and acid thumping with the spirit of resistance. Her dirty kicks, fat rhythmics, raw percussions and pretty melodies are always the finest experience of electronic music.  

She performed at Stihia (former Aral Sea, UZ) and  Under (Riga, LV) festivals, as well as presented her set at Boiler Room, the renowned Berlin HÖR, legendary club Tresor, as well as different venues around Eurasia alongside Nina Kraviz, Dr. Rubinstein, Dasha Rush, Hector Oaks, Perc, Regal, Tommy Four Seven.

𝙑𝙀𝙎𝙀𝙇𝙆𝘼 𝙋𝙊𝘿𝘾𝘼𝙎𝙏 072 | 𝘾𝙍𝙄𝙎𝙏𝙄𝘼𝙉 𝙈𝘼𝙍𝙍𝘼𝙎

CRISTIAN MARRAS - Berlin based DJ, Producer, Rebels Conspiracy Label Owner and GEGEN Resident - has slowly been working his way through the main European Countries, Cities and Clubs! He plays solid driving contemporary Techno, creating raw, fast changing arithmetic sequences, mixing together multiple layers, swinging from instrumental hypnotic soundscapes to hard grooving build ups, often showing Industrial influences.

𝙑𝙎𝙇𝙆: How was your first DJ gig?
𝘾𝙍𝙄𝙎𝙏𝙄𝘼𝙉: My very first gig was in a typical small, sweaty Berlin basement. After moving to Berlin in 2014 to study electronic music production and sound design,  a few schoolmates and I threw a party for the rest of the students, renting a small space in Warschauer Str. I DJed for the first time there. I barely knew how to mix, but had a playlist made of tunes very close to my heart and through that I made a connection with the people dancing around me, and that was an incredible life changing experience.

𝙑𝙎𝙇𝙆: 3 special things about Berlin, whether good or bad.
𝘾𝙍𝙄𝙎𝙏𝙄𝘼𝙉: People in Berlin are mostly open-minded and forward-thinking.
The city evolves very quickly, which is exciting but also has its challenges.
The city offers lots of opportunities for those who are looking for them.

𝙑𝙎𝙇𝙆: Why 50 shades of Techno?
𝘾𝙍𝙄𝙎𝙏𝙄𝘼𝙉: "50 shades of Techno" is a catchphrase I use on my Instagram bio, which is obviously a reference to the bestseller 50 Shades of Grey. The story resonates with me in many ways. I grew up in a Catholic and conservative environment, and then I moved to Berlin, where I experienced a whole new reality that allowed me to go through a deep evolutionary process, discovering new sides of my personality and identity, including aspects of taste, gender, sexuality. "50 shades of Techno" also reflects the diversity of my sound. I've never identified with a specific style of Techno; instead, I trust my inspiration in the moment, allowing me to express the different sides of my musical taste which is constantly evolving.

𝙑𝙎𝙇𝙆: Tuscany or Sicily?
𝘾𝙍𝙄𝙎𝙏𝙄𝘼𝙉: Very tough choice, to be honest. They’re both gorgeous regions I've visited multiple times, where I've made friends and had the opportunity to perform. I love Tuscany for its incredible history and art, but Sicily is amazing for its seaside and variety of landscapes. Tuscany holds a special place in my heart, as many of my close friends live there, and I've had the chance to visit more often.

𝙑𝙎𝙇𝙆: A solo EP in 2024?
𝘾𝙍𝙄𝙎𝙏𝙄𝘼𝙉: Potentially 🙂 There have been several new projects in the making this year. It has been a very creative time, music-wise, including some things not related to techno. Some of these projects are already out, and more will be announced and released by the end of the year and into the beginning of next year.
