Our guest artist who joined me this month is long standing iconic Glasgow venue Sub-Clubs resident Domenic Cappello of Subcluture and one half of esteemed residents Harri & Domenic.

Domenic has been an avid supporter of releases on AER & my other releases since the beginning. I'm pleased to have him contribute to the series and his mastery as a DJ & selector is unparalleled. New debut album from him dropping later this month on Alien Communications called 'Basement Philosophy" to add to his back catalogue of releases.

Domenic Cappello has maintained his weekly Saturday Subculture residency, the flagship night at Glasgow’s Sub Club, since 1994. Subculture has thrived where so many house clubs have flagged because the night has always embraced and sought out the most innovative and culturally relevant electronic music - regardless of fickle fashions or commercial pressures.

From regular residencies at the infamous Robert Johnson he connects dancers from dust to space at Leipzig’s IFZ, Milan’s Tempio del Futuro Perduto Mexico City’s Funk Club and Berlin’s very own Staub as well as overseas. His discography reflects his profound artistic output on prestigious compilations like the Lifesaver 4 Compilation, the collab „And You“ and Ava Records „10 Yahre“ - Compilation as Форм. A principios de siglo, cuando la electrónica acababa de explosionar llenando las calles de clubs y las zapatillas de baile, hubo un sello que supo llevar todo ello más allá y generar una de las primeras sectas musicales que se recuerdan. Hablamos de Border community, camada de genios como Nathan Fake, Four Tet, Luke Abbot, Extrawelt y por supuesto del mayor de todos, James Holden. Es, y no nos pasamos de frenada diciendo esto, uno de los sellos más influyentes de la historia de la electrónica, y como tal se merece su electromagnética.

Fueron los responsables de que en pistas anteriormente saturadas por el beat la peña bailara con los ojos cerrados melodías eternas, y a quien hay que agradecer que en unos años donde el mínimal mal entendido era omnipresnete dejándolo todo de mierda hasta el techo, daban esperanza y alivio al oído del inquieto.

Sello que sigue vivo, 20 años después, que sigue inventando y que sigue arrastrando a sus feligreses al templo de turno. Hoy toca en esta Kely y en este medio; la radio.

We welcomed a long time veteran of the scene to the show, who joined me for a 2hr guest mix. Scott Braithwaite. 

Having been involved since day one, from remixing soundscape in the early 90’s.
To projects with Techno luminary Craig Walsh, moving to A&R, the architect behind many projects of yesteryear which paved a path for the deeper side of House & Techno, to critical acclaim.
Working for Kickin Records, home of Slip N Slide, Warlock, being the original A&R at Kickin records left, leaving Scott to compile many compilations from producers in the 90’s, including the ‘Elements of Jazz’ series, featuring 3MB feat:Juan Atkins, Dave Angel, Glen Underground, Dan Curtin, K Alexi, Patrick Pulsinger, Black Jazz Chronicles (Ashley Beadle), Model 500, Ian O’Brien, As One (Kirk Degiorgio).
Also, the Techno Nations Vol 6 & 7, featuring Monolake, James Ruskin, Surgeon, Kosmic Messenger, The Advent, Jay Denham, Space DJs, Joey Beltram, Drexciya, Planetary Assault Systems, then ‘The Freestyle Fusion’ compilation for Dynamite Joint recordings, featuring artists Stasis, Bandulu, Afronaught, The Cinematic Orchestra.
He has played all over the world and continues to this day.

Observatory 079 - Sungate [with Kato De Vidts & J.Noon (Live at Mostra) & Moy Santana]

A solo electronic producer based in Bristol, LTO first garnered attention and praise in 2011 as part of the Old Apparatus collective with their abstract experimental bass-driven music, submerged in swirls and fragments of otherworldly static and interference. Now working on solo music as well as with the collective, LTO’s first release under his own name is the characteristically mysterious No Pasa Nada EP, a heady cloud of greyscale sound design, ghostly timbres and deep sonics. Here's what he had to say about his mix:

"I'm delighted to be contributing to the podcast series of a label whose output over the years has so fundamentally sculpted the form my own music takes today. I saw this invitation as an opportunity to share some of my less electronic influences and, in particular, to give a nod to the label's association with the post-rock genre, which so massively influenced me during the early developmental stages of my sound."
