"For over 10 years SparkUp aka MC Atactic has been a household name in Holland’s hiphop and bass music scene. He started his musical career in Utrecht, The Netherlands and quickly became an essential part of many live bands as a rapper and vocalist. During this time he also became involved with hosting and MCing, successfully using the skills he gained from his live experience. Always being the perfect spokesman for the bands and collectives he featured in, he even hosted his own local radio show in Rotterdam.
 
"With his growing love for music he set his mind to producing his own material and now believes it is the time to let the world hear his creations. Having learned a lot with his time spend in the studio on many projects, his own studio at de Kytopia Complex in Utrecht has quickly become his home away from home. When concocting bass heavy rhythms, most of his work is 140bpm, but he will often surprise you with different tempos in productions and mixes, which comes from his own diverse musical background with styles ranging from hiphop to reggae and now culminating in bass and dubstep.
 
"Most known for being part of Boemklatsch, he is also an accomplished graphic designer, a big fan of tattoo culture and a huge sneaker freak. There is always common ground to be found with this creative centipede."

Interview with Dirty Chocolate

1. Upon Your recent 93 EP release, how long did it take you for the process of creating the EP.?

A couple of months, most of it spent choosing what 3 songs to put out as the 93 EP. It was a tough decision, changed my mind more times than I can count. I am happy with the outcome. 

2. Your EP Tracks seems to have quite unique names for their Titles, is there any story behind how you end up with their names epically ‘Emoji girl’.

That track I actually made and named a year ago. I honestly just go with what comes to my mind when I name songs. I feel like that way it feels more natural. 

3.	How has being part of collectives like @MovingCastle, @wearealaya, @ethereallabel had an influence on your life as a producer ?

Being a part of Moving Castle has helped me immensely. It is really important to surround yourself with people that share the same motivation as you. I have learned and grown so much in the period of time spent with Moving Castle. Alaya and Ethereallabel? have also helped me in many ways. Much love to all of them. 

4. From your name we can tell you are a chocolate fan. What is your top 3 chocolate you would recommend to anyone?

Haha, going to go by brands. Hershey’s, Godiva and Ferrero Rocher if you’re about that life. 

5. When you are not making some dope Music. What do you do to chill?

That’s a pretty long list, but my favourite activities include, drawing, watching anime, and playing my 3ds. 

6.	How did you come to be part of the anonymous Josh Pan and also how do you feel about your upcoming performing at Noh Life Club Night 06 “Tons of friends” show with other amazing producers like strewlow , IanEwing , Dehku .

Josh Pan really just consists of people I talk to almost every day, so it happened super organically. I am super excited to meet and perform with all those guys. Gonna be my first time meeting strehlow even if we are in the same collective haha.

This time around we unfortunately only got to spend 1 day in the Red Bull Studios Amsterdam for our monthly 'Werk Space' project with Jengi Beats. The young producer from Den Bosch turned 19 in January and is well on his way to becoming one of our national export products. You might know Jengi Beats, because of his affiliation with ZenSupremacy, Youtellme or Bitbird. Or perhaps you've heard his remix of El. Train's "Control" featuring miss Miki Rose.

Anyway sir Jengi Beats worked on a little track called "Sun Sun" during his Werk Space visit to the Red Bull Studios Amsterdam.

Next week @Wantigga will join us in the studio and best believe you will discover, love and respect many more talented Dutch producers.
