welcome to HORIZONTALS the new ambient / balearic project from London based dj & producer LEO ZERO

It was born out of Leo’s longstanding love-affair with Ibiza's sunset / chill-out culture which he became a devotee of since first visiting Cafe Del Mar in 1989. Leo went on to co-write one of the defining tracks of the scene - Chicane’s ‘Offshore’

Now with 30 years as a music producer under his belt, and a long history scoring bespoke music for film, tv and advertising, Leo has returned to the original Balearic sound he fell in love with, whilst also tuning into modern global sunset bar scene in Bali, Tulum and beyond. Across 10 tracks we touch on classic folk and flamenco leaning Spanish flavours, to glacial ambient synth soundscapes, and bang up to date organic / minimal house tracks.

It’s been a long, lonely winter and it’s just getting started. To help us all along the way here's a monthly mix series featuring DJs who held it down @ the spot. These selectors hauled their bags of wax into the bar and spun their threads of aural fantasy; we really wanna thank them for setting the scene. 

First mix comes care of resident Cam Hildebrandt, known for his perfectly executed sets of trainspotty dub, boogie, house, and ??? that get rooms glowing in Toronto, NYC, and Londontowne. 

Here he ferries us through a corridor of foggy morning soul and dub shot through with tough boogie and quivering synths, opening the window to clarinet and breakbeat strewn dance floor bliss.  

Pop the hatch and climb on in...

For the second Another Day In Paradise episode of 2021, Discos Paradiso Crew are back with a special show focusing on Spanish music, this time with 2 amazing guest mixes by Claudia Urbano and El Guiri Discos.
The first hour of the show will be for pianist, singer and musicologist Claudia Urbano with her “Gurripato Mix”, a tribute to Andalusia and her Grandfather:
“Gurripato mix is a tribute to my grandfather, Alonso Urbano, who passed away this month. He was passionate about Andalusian culture and so revealed his paintings. and He conveyed the love and respect towards my roots. In this mix I concentrated some of his favourite artists, like Antonio Molina o Pepa Flores, who he was lucky enough to have had a close relationship with.”

In the second hour of the show, Edit Label focused on reworking long forgotten Spanish unclassics, El Guiri Discos will be taking over the reins of the musical selection with a mix that focuses on 100% Spanish music, taking you on a ride through the many styles that make up El Guiri’s DNA.
