Recondite, a long-time friend of the label, returns for an introspective outing.

With the Bird EP he presents two tracks with contrasting themes that complement each other, demonstrating his technical ability and emotional intelligence. Title track ‘Bird’ explores the notion of freedom through sonic transcendence, offering hope and optimism with its gentle melodies and subtle euphoria. ‘Secluded’ takes the opposite approach, exploring the inner conflict sparked by isolation and living in confinement. Taut beats and brooding melancholy underpin this cut, with a solemn repetitive riff adding emotive urgency.

"I actually made this mix as a way to compile all the music that I'd been running to lately. Over the summer I signed up for the New York Marathon and while most might train to more aggressive music I found that a mellow mix suits me a lot better. I wanted to make a mix that reflected those runs by focusing more on flow than having the rarest tunes. I had a blast making it and was even able to listen to it during the big race this past weekend. And while the mix couldn't save me from paralyzing leg cramps around the halfway point it was a great soundtrack to my 15 minute stay in the medical tent.  I hope you enjoy this mix as much as I had making and running to it." - @enterthelloyd

Jason Peters is a long time DJ (since the early 90s) and producer (releasing since 2001) and label boss of Roam Recordings. Over the last decade Jason Peters and his label have been at the forefront of the indie dance/dark disco movement. Ransom Note puts it best: “Just like Jason's own productions, which also appear on the label, the music is dark and hypnotic, cosmic and driving - sounds that'll take you down a wormhole. There are a lot of labels and artists treading similar terrain these days, but Jason was spearheading this new wave of exciting and unique dance music a long time ago.”

Through the years Jason has played countless raves, clubs, afterhours, parties, and the like. At the moment Jason has paused most travel to focus on his family which he adores. He does host Roam events in his hometown of San Francisco along with his partner Sharlese and occasionally takes a gig that doesn’t require him to travel too far. Maybe that will change. Life is funny that way.

"40 Thieves and Alona… these are my homies. I love working with them. Alona is also on my EP “In the Dark” which came out in October 2024. And they have another EP coming out with us in the Spring of 2025. I’ve also done some work with them on their Album “The Sky is Yours” that came out in 2014 on Leng. They even named a track after me - “JP Soul” which was my alias back then. 40 Thieves are known for their cosmic disco and 80s sounds which is a great fit for Roam. For my remix I wanted to contrast that with a stripped down pounding version with warehouse vibes. There’s also another version on the EP from Shubostar which plays up the italo sounds. You can probably tell I love this EP and all the people on it. "

BIO
Jason Peters is a DJ/Producer and the label boss of Roam Recordings. Over the last decade he and his label’s output have been at the forefront of the indie dance/dark disco movement. While his music centers around 80s italo, 90s rave, and contemporary indie dance and dark disco, you will also hear rare disco, psychedelic techno, and early house.

Jason Peters is also a long time staple of the San Francisco dance music community where he plays regularly for some of SF’s more discerning clubs and promoters such as Sunset Sound System, Monarch, The Great Northern, and F8. On Jason Peters’ travels outside of the Bay Area he has played events such as SundaySunday, CRSSD festival, Block 9 at Glastonbury, Red Light Radio, Kater Blau, and the Alfresco festival.

Jason Peters is a DJ, producer, and the driving force behind Roam Recordings. For over a decade, he and his label have been at the forefront of the indie dance and dark disco movement. His sets draw from 80s italo, 90s rave, and contemporary indie dance/dark disco, while weaving in rare disco cuts, psychedelic techno, and early house.

A longtime fixture in the San Francisco dance music community, Jason regularly plays for some of the city’s most respected crews and venues, including Sunset Sound System, Housepitality, Monarch, and The Great Northern. This is a performance of the piece that took place at Cafe Oto in May 2018.  The improvisers - Rhodri Davies, Phil Durrant, Janet Davies, Bill Thompson and Deborah Edwards - improvised to the 'backing track', which you can hear as Stirrings1.

@midland: “With this mix I wanted to try and capture the sound of me in the club during a long set in the part of the night when you and the crowd are locked in to a groove; a time when you’re able to make left turns, but it feels totally natural. As ever unreleased records sit alongside new records alongside records that came out 10/20/30 years ago. I definitely wanted to build to a more electro/rave crescendo in the middle of this, and try and plot a course through some broken stuff towards the end. I really enjoyed recording this one!”

The Cover Mix: Midland

My first mix. It has some flaws, but in general I'm pretty happy about the result. Mixed on a simple VDJ rig with a midi controller and external pads. 

Kristian set 1 - Melodic DnB - 2013

Lithuanian, Vilnius-based Ramūnas aka midnattssoula has already done one mix for Clandestino mix series, but this was about 4 years ago and then he was working with another project. He's been running his own radio show/party series/record label Where Were We? for 3 years now and both Joe Morris and Nick Smith had a chance to be a part of this journey. 

WWW just dropped its third release and this time it's featuring up-and-coming Frenchman Blaise Balda. There's also a remix pack coming mid-March from the likes of Romain FX, REES, Sauvage World (from Slow Motion fame), and Lithuanian Italo talent Black Feeling. Several of these tracks from both the original EP and a forthcoming remix pack is in the guest mix which showcases Ramunas' passion for more uptempo, dancefloor-oriented Italo house and synth-wave burners. It's totally OK to dance alone, it's time to heal your wounded soul! ; )
