For tonight's show I curated two full hours of Spanish gems – not just from Spain, but also from Venezuela, Peru, Mexico, Cuba and the Catalan region. We're kinda making our way through the decades, starting with Alicia Maguiña in 1962 and moving towards the 90s. While the first hour is rather dedicated to slow and mid-tempo vibes, I'm increasing the energy in the second half. Shout-outs to DJ Spoki, Mr. Fantasy, Trujillo, Nemo & Castro for inspiration!

Zillas on Acid is Thomas Roland and James Weissinger, resident DJs for sixteen years and  counting at MAKING TIME, Philadelphia's never-ending nightlife institution. Since the 2019  release of their EPs Black Cat (Optimo Music) and She Takes NRG (Ivan Smagghe’s Les  Disques de la Mort), the Zillas have been busy building a steady catalog of music for labels like  Polari, Nocturne, Dischi Autunno, Optimo Music, Inside Out, Multi-Culti, Microdosing, Throne of  Blood, and more. Along the way, they’ve garnered support from futuristic fellow travelers like  Roman Flügel, Dixon, Jennifer Cardini, Justin Strauss, Bradley Zero, Sean Johnston, and many  others. Deep in the studio or out in the club, the Zillas mix slow-motion death disco, dubbed-out drum machine music, and of course ACID to excite party people from all planets.

GBDT - Some Weird Disco - Radio Alhara

Almost a decade after its first release, Acid Youth returns on MFZ Records with the album "Darkness Is Not Easy".
This new work is the result of years of research and refinement in defining an aesthetic that merges the acid imagery with the song form and melody.

Alongside the usual suspects (808, 303, analog and digital synthesizers), new acoustic and electric elements (drums, guitar, bass) are introduced. The result of this mix is a personal reinterpretation of the sounds from the '90s alternative music scene.
The rhythmic precision of the synthetic elements guides melodic structures characterized by human imperfections. Fuzz guitars go with the acid lines of the 303, while drums mix up with the analog percussions of the 808.

The album’s tracks blend techno atmospheres, shoegaze moods, acid psychedelia and drone expansions.
"Darkness Is Not Easy" is a musical journey accessible to anyone who doesn’t particularly care about strict boundaries between musical genres; a path to be taken without preconceived notions or bias of any kind.
