TRONIK YOUTH MARCH MIX 2024

A little more than four years have passed since Espacio Cielo started its journey. From January 2020 fast forward to the present day, almost eighty releases hit the shelves of the main online retailers out there and delivered some precious gems for the so-called Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene – many of them are proper peak time beasts!

For its forthcoming brick on the wall, the Spanish powerhouse welcomes back British producer Jay-Son, whose recent string of appearances on other vital outlets such as NEIN, Paisley Dark, When Disco Goes Wrong, Rare Wiri, and Espacio itself has showcased the versatility and capabilities of the seasoned virtuoso.

His “Divine Journey of Souls” EP comes with his characteristic groovy-meets-darkness sonority and comes with two stunning remixes cooked with love by the label owner himself: First, an EBM-infused version for the title track as Parissior (SXDNS206), and then, a more Raw-Trance-like interpretation for “Capsule Sway” as Jesu Aparicio.

Premiered here, “Divine Journey Of Souls”, the original, is not only energetic but also mesmerizing with its throbbing bassline and deep synth leads. Percussive elements and speech-like vocals jump in to enrich the cosmic-retro-embedded theme.

@feinestier is entering its 60s together with Lithuanian lad Liudas Lazauskas aka @roedeers and his „Landscape“ EP. We’re not exactly sure if those titular landscapes are to be understood literally, figuratively, metaphorically or all at once, nevertheless they are fascinating and a marvel to take in. 
Where and how do we start? With an (un)healthy dose of acid of course! „I’m very sorry (Acid)“ takes care of that, with the tune delivering everything the title promises, experience report included. Better make sure set and setting are right for this one! After that we’re taking a thrilling „Helicopter“ ride to „Glory“ and try not to loose our „Shoes“. Ok, that was a little cheap, I’m Very Sorry (Acid)! (Sorry again!) 
Anyway, to speak in strictly musical terms, „Helicopter“ is a banger. And „Glory“ is just beautiful with its gorgeous addictive swirling arps, while „Shoes“ keeps it cool tempo-wise and also mood-wise, creeping through some dark back-alleys with moody breakbeat drums and brooding synth chords. The penultimate „Silent Stories“ picks up the pace again a little bit, but gets even more grubby, hypnotic and seductive vocals included, before we get another face-melter with the closer „Sash“, which goes hard on the electric bass in your face, pitched-down vocals and some cowbells for good measure. 
Thank you Roe Deers for guiding us through these Landscapes for our 60th, the fresh air makes us feel like teenagers again.

The 90s: Directed by a techno bass-drum, a freaked-out decade is rushing towards nirvana, coma, freedom. Forward and forget. Right in the middle of it: Wolfgang Voigt, fully into it. The magic machines of the hour are called 303 and 909. A bass sequencer and a drum machine are putting the dancefloors of the planet into ecstasy. Acid, Baby! Wolfgang Voigt’s best mate is the sampler. The omnivorous sound-transmitter is made for the artists genre-transgressing quotation-pop-art-expressionism. Under a countless number of aliases and projects, Wolfgang Voigt connects old with new artistic visions, he is creating hybrid experiments and concepts on the way to musical new ground. Everything is possible. And everything is techno, as long as there’s a four-to-the-floor bass drum. From Schlager to Polka to Classical music. From Jazz to Pop to Ambient. Via sampling, everything loses its meaning and is reincarnated to a new digital life. For the very first time, EARQUAKE! summarises in chronological order almost all of Wolfgang Voigts musical work of the 1990s. A surreal voyage through ten years of ravenous, multi-layered creativity, that, considering it from the present’s bird’s-eye perspective, offers the view on a fascinating entirety.

It contains every single solo-project, the most important compilation-pieces as well as unreleased material. It is not containing explicitly: GAS, artistic collaborations, releases with external copyrights.

EARQUAKE comprises 303 single pieces, 75 are previously unreleased. Additionally it contains the unreleased album "Wolfgang Voigt - Mit Maschinen Sprechen" from 1995. 33 abstract electronic arpeggiator sound frescos.

EARQUAKE is being released in two different versions, available exclusively on KOMPAKT.FM:

1. A USB 3 stick in noble casket plus booklet. 303 pieces (plus 33 bonus tracks) (as AIFF) for 303.- Euro.

2. Single download (as 320mp3s) via the Kompakt website, 1.- Euro each track.

Additionally, EARQUAKE is going to be supplemented by reissues and new pressings of selected limited vinyl-releases.

You learned that there are genres.
Everything separated into categories with their own canon and rules: Major, minor, 4/4, 6/8, highs, lows, high head, butt end.
Techno here, Disco there. You learned that art and music are two different things. Visually auditory, audio-visual, optically acoustic, not to mention the surface feel.
Listen to me, look at me, touch me. But everything in that order please! You have learned that understanding takes you further.
Night / life, rhythm / dancing, substance / excess, water / holding out, sleep / rest, headache / not good.
But what would it be if all of that wasn't just right? If all of our knowledge is based on the mistake of having to put everything in relation? To classify it, to make it responsive.
What do we do with something that doesn't follow the rules of this logic? That is not based on 0 and 1 and therefore not bound to our binary systems? Is this all at once?
After all, what if the whole thing has no limits?
