Given the honour of opening one of NZ's best kept little festivals, I wanted to pour my heart in to the 2 hours gifted to me. 
Combining some of my favourite tracks with a smattering of my own unreleased music this was a personal journey.

The first of many Ranch series sets comes from a dear friend of the ranch, Belgium born, Berlin Based, Sander Markey.  Ranch head ganders asked Sander to present an extended 12 hour set to the Ranch community, a fusion between his 2 alias Johnny Lee Johnson (Soul-Jazz-Hop Hop) and Slick Marcel Rick (Disco to Funk). Low and behold, on that sunny Sunday afternoon, Slick Marcel Johnson was born.  Vibes were super high, enjoy part 1 from his 12 hour set, right here.. x

Inspired by the African cassette tapes from my father, I started playing African Disco and Funk in Amsterdam in 2010. After traveling in different continents, I started experimenting with sounds from all over the world. Where I used to play a bit more uptempo, nowadays I am focussing on a deeper and more atmospheric sound. Blending different genres and tempos is something that is appealing to me. From Nigerian funk to Amazon tribe music, everything is possible.
