DA KREEK
Dedicated. Diligent. Persevering. Not only are those words synonymous with success, but they can also be used to describe one of Ohio’s best rap duos, Da Kreek. Don’t believe it? Check the stat sheet.
Since 2007, brothers DTown and Mello Dee – MCs and producers, respectively – have continued to build a strong reputation throughout the Midwest. The brash duo has earned a total of eight Ohio Hip-Hop Awards nominations, including four for Best Group. In 2008, their energetic, in your face performance style won them the 101.9 Home Jamz competition, followed in 2009 with an Ohio Hip Hop Awards Showcase title. Their aggressive crossover performances have landed them on stage with national recording acts WIz Khalifa, B.o.B. Soulja Boy, Kirko Bangz, Rick Ross, Day 26 and Machine Gun Kelly.
All this success hasn’t happened over night, though. Fortunately for Da Kreek, the one thing that rivals their work ethic is the quality of their diverse musical catalog. Influenced by Method Man and Redman’s Black Out album, the brothers began writing rhymes in middle school. In 2008, they released their debut album STILL ILL, followed by Clock In: Flight Shift in 2011. The time between albums was used to develop a sound distinctly different than the norm for mainstream hip-hop, while they also ambitiously built a vibrant viral presence as evidenced by the support of their 2012 visual release for their hit “DumbFlyStupidFresh.”
While their resume is already stacked, Da Kreek promises to deliver big in 2013. An album featuring production from DTown and Mello Dee, Clock In: Grind 2 Fly, is already in the works. A Midwestern headlining tour built on the success of their We Got Flow and Midwest Monstars tours will also be used to promote the new album and engage their enthusiastic fan base.

Edgar Um Bucholtz is a DJ, multi-media artist, event producer and improvising musician living in Pittsburgh, PA.

He is the co-founder and co-resident (with DJ Dad Time!) of Pgh Bro Club, a monthly trash pop, anything goes, changing-theme dance party at the Brillobox in Pittsburgh.

Since its inception in 2010, he has served as a general advisor and music curator for the internationally-acclaimed annual VIA Music & New Media Festival in Pittsburgh.

He was a full-time music and event curator and resident DJ for The Andy Warhol Museum from 1999-2004. He has served as an events consultant for the last four Carnegie Internationals (1999-2000, 2004-2005, 2008, 2013-2014) at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh.

He started collecting vinyl records and playing records at parties while in high school in rural southwestern Ohio. While an undergraduate student at Carnegie Mellon University, he was a DJ on WRCT FM (and for a few years after.) He credits WRCT's record library and many of his fellow WRCT DJ comrades with giving him as much or more important information as his professors at CMU. In addition to DJing at WRCT, he produced a long-running weekly live experimental improvised radio show called "Radio For The People" in collaboration with fellow CMU technology-focused art students as well as with bands and noise musicians from Pittsburgh. He also produced a weekly critical and cultural theory radio show called "Inside The Beast: Theory In Transmission" in collaboration with professor Camilla Griggers and graduate students in the CMU English Department.

Edgar Um Bucholtz makes sounds in Fuck Telecorps, a long-running electro-acoustic improvised experimental sound/performance project, and in an occasional power-electronics noise project called Cock Scene Investigator.
