Michael Orr, the mastermind behind Spaces Between, is back to the music scene after a three year long absence, and as one could expect, the return is quite a treat. Black Blood successfully balances on the line where digital and analog meet, exploring vast soundscapes that could feel equally at home in the trip-hop dominated Bristol as well as the downtempo electronica friendly USA. Being a guitarist first and foremost, Orr builds rich post-rock textures and throws them towards a wall of fractured electronic beats. The result is, as always, eloquently suggestive and revealingly overwhelming.
