“Taking inspiration from a footnote of an Oliver Sacks book, lyrically this explores the phenomenon of musical hallucinations. As I was piecing the lyrics together I quickly realised that in this “a brain storm” is a metaphor for a misunderstood, long term condition with varying degrees of ever changing intensity; Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome definitely inspired my lyric writing for this song (kindly follow the link to the HEDS society in my bio to learn more. Thank you). Leaning into the nostalgic live basement recording sounds of 1990’s alternative music there is definitely a Wheatus, Green Day, Third Eye Blind sound and it gets a little The Cure in places on this one. I also wanted the scrapbook sounds of “Save Rock and Roll” era Fall Out Boy. 

I revisited this as I wanted to cut a new vocal and when doing so I decided to explore a new mix - see what you think of this new version. Thank you.”

     Howdy everyone and I hope everyone had a great Labor Day, without laboring of course!😂 This is another of my instrumentals, which actually had lyrics but the vocals were not recorded too well so I made it into an instrumental. It's about having that Las Vegas experience which I'm sure nobody can afford anymore with this economy unless you're a billionaire! I've been to Vegas many times and most times I've lost, hence the title "Lost Wages"! I'm not a gambler, so when I lose a couple of hundred dollars I start sweating profusely!!😂 It's a fast paced song and I played like a boogie-woogie synthesizer on it and a rock guitar. Charlie played a groovy harmonica on it too! I've decided to drop an instrumental and a cover song every month from now on besides my normal songs and videos.      The video was a lot of fun to put together and it's all about Las Vegas, the gambling, the show girls, the drinking, the excesses, pretty decadent stuff! There's is a lot of eye-candy here for the grown-ups to enjoy! It drops tomorrow on YouTube! The original song with lyrics was called "My Neck Of The Woods" so if Charlie and I rerecord the vocals, I'll make a video of it as well. I hope everyone enjoys this song and video and remember, don't gamble unless you can afford to lose a ton of money and are rich because it is an addiction! Last time we went to Las Vegas, back before the pandemic, it was for about a week and all we saw were the shows and never gambled, that was my favorite trip because I didn't lose a dime! But guess what? We're going back to Las Vegas in December 2025 to watch the new "Wizard Of Oz" spectacular in The Sphere! Check out the clips on YouTube, it's really mind-blowing! No gambling!! Forever

This track began taking shape back in February 2025, during a period of experimenting with different guitars and hardware pedals—especially lots of echo effects. From the outset, I decided to abandon any formal plan or structure. My approach was simple: plug in a guitar, play whatever came to mind, and keep whatever felt promising. I just wanted to create something organic, hand-played, with some kind of consistent flow... 

Over time, ideas started to accumulate, and it felt generally fun to just keep recording. 

I’ll admit, part of the inspiration came from a beautiful trip to a magical northern spot, home to a stunning waterfall (see my art cover). Whether that feeling made it into the music—well, I’m honestly not sure.

The final result is this 7-minute progressive guitar journey, featuring two electric guitars, two steel-strings, and one classical guitar.

Life can be difficult for introverts, of which I am one.  

Uncomfortable in crowds, finding unstructured social gathering a nightmare and seeking out solitude and preferring our own company, if we can get away with it. Often considered ‘odd’ or ‘stand-off-ish’ by others…it can be exhausting.  Well, this one is for my fellow odd ones out.

On My Own

Irish Musician & Singer Songwriter who decided a few years ago to start creating music again after many years of trying to ignore the call. I also decided to post whatever I created somewhere in case anyone cared to listen, even by accident! What I did not envision was finding a community of outstanding musicians, truly world class talent and fantastic people here on SoundCloud.

I never dreamed I would also have the opportunity to create music with some of these amazing people and it has been a true joy to be given the opportunity to work with some of these gifted generous people and make music I am so proud of.
