The newest addition to this anthology series-- (Re-works of poems i have done in the last few years)- On this rendering, Terry From Tea R Sea did the production work and final mix--He also did the orchestration on "Sublime"  and the synth/pipe organ work on "the giant ball of burning gas"- Jo Richter of Sonic Structures and Silent Stretches contributed All the orchestration and production work on "pieces of the Sun" and made the Cool introduction and fx on Sublime--The drum and bass line are products of Roland/Boss drum bass generator and the  vocals and poems are by StonerJazz  :):) My heartfelt Thanks to These wonderful friends and Artists for all their work, help and encouragement on this huge project--A big Thanks to all of you who may find your way to this work- peace and Love to Everyone!

GIANT BALL OF GAS

Just out here in the middle of the void
Spinning fast around a giant burning ball of gas

meteors and comets are Zooming by at breakneck pace
The situation seems to be a little bit precarious
some might even say Nefarious.

how can it be that tragedy can sometimes be
almost hilarious
Stupidity it seems to be the order of the day
yet here we are and here we go
onward out like warriors without a clue
and everyone will play their part
of this i'm sure, l know it's true!!

This song originated with a slower more Jazz oriented track Mark had previously written ('1 For The Money, 3 For The Blues' https://on.soundcloud.com/BtSS4). However, he wanted a more 'suped up' version with solos turns, so he turned to The Eclectic Collective (EC) to fill in the pieces by replacing some of his solos with their own. Mark had some lyrics in mind too, however, once he heard The Mysterious Decibel's excellent lyrics and vocals, the song totally changed the direction and the vibe, for the stellar. 

   Once we had a basic structure, Ken, as always, came up with the rhythmic foundation for the song, allowing Josh to add his version of Mark's bass line. Then, after MD gave us the vocals, we got down to adding the solos. As more EC members jumped on board with new parts, Mark kept lengthening the song, moving the solos & vocals around until it's final current arrangement. JJ opens the song with his thrilling piano solo, as well as the electric piano solo where he joins Mark on VST Sax right after the first singing verses. Then Josh added a melodic and very clean toned guitar solo with a very clean tone - the first of the two guitar turns. After that, Stephen added his fiery guitar solo with a more overdriven tone. After one more vocal verse from MD, Mark stepped back in to close it out with his nasty harp solo at the end. After Mark handled the mixing on this song, we turned once again to Stephen to take care of the final sound production and mastering, which he fulfilled expertly.  

  We hope you enjoy this jazzier side of the EC as much as we enjoyed making it. MD's lyrics are about a psycho killer artist who hides clues about his murders in his paintings.

Side Note:
This past Tuesday, we released a fun little series of interviews over a 20 minute medley of some of our favorite musical moments. If you want to hear our voices and some of our thoughts about music, check it out! You might really enjoy it, especially if you follow us, and have been for a while. It's a celebration of all of our work over the past almost year together in various forms. This song was supposed to be a showcase of all of our skills to accompany that medley, except Tez isn't in on this one. He'll be on the next one, though, for sure!

This is a song started when Mark came up with its architecture, recorded in a  slower, more laid back version on his own. However, he wanted a more souped up version with solos in turns. So, he turned to The Eclectic Collective to fill in the pieces. He originally had solos in all the parts which he laid down on the keys, and he had some lyrics, too. However, once he heard The Mysterious Decibel's excellent lyrics and vocals, the song totally changed the direction and the vibe, for the stellar. 

  But MD didn't start the whole thing. As happens sometimes, even without Tez on this one, we still needed to clear out some space to let everyone have their say. So, Mark went in and lengthened the song mechanically. Once we had a final form, Ken, as always, came up with the foundation for the song, allowing Josh to add his version of Mark's bass line. Then, after MD gave us the vocals to form the song, we got down to adding the solos. JJ first added his thrilling opening piano solo, as well as the electric piano solo right after the first verse, which Mark is also playing a VST sax solo in, as well. Then Josh added his guitar solo, which is the first of the two, with a very clean tone. Right after that, Stephen added his fiery solo, which follows right after with a more overdriven tone. Finally, Mark stepped back in and added his killer harp solo at the end. Of course, it needed to be mixed well, too, so we turned to Stephen for that important role, once again, which he fulfilled expertly. At home producer of electronic tracks in varying styles - I really enjoy experimenting with melding different genres. 
Been writing songs since the mid 70's whilst playing bass & drums in various bands (the first one was a punk band) and digitally writing since 2006. Retired now, so much more time for having fun with music :) It's just a hobby for me these days; Soundcloud is just a great place to share music & connect with people who have the same interests.
