The soul tree

Far out, lonely in the barren space
stands an ancient willow tree
still from the heathen times,
gnarled and wrinkled, split and hollow.
No one cuts it, no one dares
to pass by, when it is no longer day,
no bird sings to it in the dry branches,
rustling only the east and west haunt it;
but when in the evening the shadows darken,
you hear it like buzzing and whispering.
And if you approach the willow at midnight,
you'll see it guarded by gray children:
On all branches they crouch close,
Lisping and whispering and not moving.
These are the little souls who far and wide
Had to die before the baptism consecrated them:
In the coffin lies the little body,

But Christmas, when the snow lies all around
and over the countries the Christ Child flies,

Our little buggies have woken up!
They peek out, who sees what, who?
Yes, of course, the Christ Child is coming!
With his bright sky shine
He flies right in between them:
"Little people, now I am here - do you believe in me?
do you believe in me?" They shout: "Yes!"
There it nods with its dear face
and hugs the poor and is not shy.
Then he claps his hands, wraps his arm around the next one
around the next one - upward the swarm buzzes
after him and high above forest and meadow
straight on its way to paradise.

steht ein uralter Weidenbaum

Ja freilich kommt das Christkind her!
Mit seinem helllichten Himmelsschein
fliegt's mitten zwischen sie hinein:
"Ihr kleines Volk, nun bin ich da -
glaubt ihr an mich?" Sie rufen: "Ja!"
Da nickt's mit seinem lieben Gesicht
und herzt die Armen und ziert sich nicht.
Dann klatscht's in die Hände, schlingt den Arm
ums nächste - aufwärts schwirrt der Schwarm
ihm nach und hoch ob Wald und Wies'
ganz graden Weges ins Paradies.

Bon Voyage Santa Claus

Well i wrote this song for the Rolling Stones if they should ever get around to listening to it,  i have always been a big fan so i decided to mix a bit of Gospel, a bit of Blues and Hey presto a new song for Mick and Keith. In true Keith Richard tradition i took my Bass E string off and tuned the guitar to key of G. The main guitar is the Bridge pick up on the Les Paul giving a nice rounded sound and the lead is the bridge pick up more giving a more trebly and cutting through the mix a bit. No processing all clean as they sound. My vocals have a bit of Saturation and distortion and Compression to give me that bluesy sound, hope you'll like it and Mick & Keith if your out there let me know how i did..

Wash My Soul in the River

Hey friends! The crew that brought you 'Land of Zed' is back to launch a new collaborative concept album adventure! After wrapping our last project, Uziel, Stonerjazz and I dubbed ourselves 'The Smoking Trout'. The 3 of us are just the founding members of this group. Like last time we plan to bring in lots of guest appearances.

This first track is an instrumental. There will be more world building and myth making on subsequent episodes... The Quest for the Holy Dumpling follows a traveling band of characters, some new and some that have already made appearances in other songs. For example Sally and Roberta are the 2 clarinet players that make a cameo in the final Zed song, Amanita Musaria. This track is their cosmic call to action to open the new album. Thanks for checking it out!

Uziel @user-455619833 contributed much of the instrumentation on the second half, including the 'clarinet' lead, the guitar sounding elements, and the percussion that kicks in during the final leg of the song... and also gets lots of credit for developing the mix.

Stonerjazz @user-911083679 contributed the trippy mellotron lead and other experimental melodic elements that you hear during the first half of the track.

I contributed the drums and synth elements that persist across both halves of the song, and finalized the mix.

When I first acquired an iPad, one of my initial app purchases was the Yamaha TNR-e-US.

This was a beast to do anything with. One of the most cryptic and least user friendly systems I have ever experienced. (usually requiring 3-5 button presses for any simple change in event, and virtually no on screen prompts as to what you were doing, since it just was lit up dots)

This track is an excerpt of 1 of the 3 tracks I was able to record before giving up. There was a unique sound this offered, and revisiting this in my archives makes me happy I at least have this document to share.
As is the case with many obscure apps that can't keep up with iOS updates, I can no longer access this even if a wanted. classify as: obsolete

Paul Hardy (baptised David Paul Frederick Hardy) (2 August 1862 near Bath, Somerset – 2 January 1942 Storrington, Sussex), was an English illustrator, best known for his regular illustrations in The Strand Magazine, his painting of Canterbury Pilgrims (1903) and for his drawings associated with the serials of the writer Samuel Walkey (1871–1953). Paul was the eldest child of David and Emily Hardy. Paul's father was also an artist, as was his grandfather James Hardy senior and his uncles James Hardy junior and Heywood Hardy, all from an old Yorkshire family. All Paul's siblings, Norman, Evelyn and Dorothy Hardy, were illustrators.

The name of the deity corresponds first to the common Germanic name of the "thunder", *þunraz. He is also found by name in the Gallic Taranis. A thunder god with an analogous name meets us in the Baltic Pērkons. The epithet of Iuppiter tonans is derived from the same Indo-European root (s)ten- "thunder, rush, roar, groan." A remarkable similarity, which could point to the remains of the common Indo-European religion, lies in the fact that the Celtic Taranis, as well as Iuppiter and the Greek Zeus, use as a weapon the stone thunderbolt, which was thrown from heaven to earth by the lightning bolt. The day of the week Thursday (English Thursday, Danish/Swed. torsdag) is named after Donar or Thor. The day was consecrated already in the antiquity to the gods Zeus and/or Jupiter (Latin dies Iovis, from it also French jeudi, Romanian joi, Spanish jueves, Italian giovedì) and with the adoption of the originally Babylonian/Egyptian 7-day week by the Teutons the Latin term was copied.
