As always, a label about quality music and quality packaging without compromise. B12’s sub-label FireScope Records is proud to present Darren Nye, the next producer to add a beaming pulsar to the expanding FireScope universe.
Titled ‘Emotional Intelligence’, FS010 is Darren Nye’s first-ever vinyl release and a voyager discovery into five of his finest work. A UK producer who has been writing music since 1995, Darren’s emotional and heartfelt work with influences from B12 among others fully represents our ethos of proper techno created today.
First landing — ‘Things She Said’, where swirling pads wrap themselves around perfectly programmed drums and percussion, complemented by wonderful basslines. ‘Emulated Emotion’ speaks for itself next. A highly emotive tune with gorgeous pads and percussions carrying the track through while an undulating bassline burbles underneath — a personal spin on B12 influences. 
The voyage continues on the flip with ‘Plasmid Soul’, pure techno soul in its finest form with familiar drums and strings comprising the right ingredients to a timeless tune. Inspired by a photo from a day out in Greenwich and a bad feeling, ‘Fragments’ is an unexpected side excursion, with its quirky, disjointed bassline recalling the fragments of the past, of yesterday. ’Disconnected Reality’ sonically encapsulates the emotions of sadness presented with a ray of hope. “A track I wish I wrote!” — Steven Rutter.
No matter how strong we think we are, the words from one person can affect us in ways you'd never thought possible, making us feel disconnected from the world. Our emotional state will never be the same, and the fragments of the past will forever haunt our souls.

The equation was written abruptly in chalk upon the blackboard at the centre of the room. Watching from up high above she looked down upon the empty room and glanced outwards to the world on the other side of the glass. She pondered for a second, reconciling for the fact that there might be a hidden variable within the problem - something unknown and outwith the concious realm of thought. In the corner of the room a small fan buzzed and cast air across the stale theatre, it was little to be excited about. 

Morphology is set to release a new album on B12's infamous Firescope label which has seen a rallying revival as of late replacing the acclaimed B12 imprint itself.

This is the fourth installment of a new extension of the Dark Science Electro brand called ‘Premieres’. Certainly not a new/original concept, however, the thing that will set @darkscienceelectro Premieres apart from other publishers will be my singular focus on Electro music. The idea is to introduce existing DSE fans to the promos that I get regularly from labels and artists. Each ‘Premiere’ will feature one full track from an upcoming release as well as a few words about the release either written by @dvsnme , the artist or the label.

Awash in the beautiful sounds of hardware-derived music direct from Morphology’s command center, the album takes listeners into their skillfully crafted universe. Each track is a new world in itself of crisp beats, deep bass lines and melancholic melodies. Interspersing the frenetic pace of hyper-speed travel with ethereal landings, ‘Traveller’ is an intergalactic trip without taking off your headphones. The track I chose to premiere is ’Second Light’, with its fluttering arp work and foreboding bass line, taking travelers to the next dimension. Many have tried to recreate the following with varying success, but why reach for an imitation when you have the originators at work here in a first-ever collaboration between UK stalwarts Steven Rutter (B12/Warp/FireScope) and Kirk Degiorgio (As One, Applied Rhythmic Technology). Building a bridge across the sounds of the UK and Detroit, the combined influences, styles and elements of this teaming-up is fully realised in 4 tracks of neo hi-tech soul, where the rhythm and groove of Degiorgio meets the emotive atmospherics of Rutter.

‘Reconnaissance Pass’ opens up the channels with a quirky, upbeat jaunt alongside drawn out honeyed sunset sky hues and glittering oceans, a luscious prismatic medley of body and soul. Drenching darkness with lightness, ’Sechel’ has delicately tuned percussion and sensitively sustained strings together with a relentless pounding kick and an acid bassline in the same elevator headed towards the future.

Etheric synths and strings float above the groove pool of ’Encapsulation’, at once both reaching for the heavens and grounded in a shaker-filled dance. First led by a muted bassline, ’Tri Order Descent’ bursts open in kaleidoscopic brilliance midway before breaking into arpeggiated locomotion, a spacecraft discovery journey set forth for new and uncharted terrain.
