Somnus lak uses a broad brush to paint ambient textures over downtempo beats. He has been creating tunes for over 20 years and these latest tunes are a culmination of many varied influences such as Massive Attack, Amon Tobin, Radiohead, Ital Tek and Mogwai. He has played at various festivals including New Psycle and Subsonic as well as the TINA festival in Newcastle. His music has been described as a perfect soundtrack to an epic film, full of atmosphere and emotion that gets dirty when it needs to.

Growing up surrounded by music and my early passion for experimenting with sound led me to the path of creating music.  Sentimentality and storytelling are the focus of my work and have continuously informed my creative expression. I draw inspiration from nature, memories, noise, and pathos. Through the dynamic interplay between sound experimentation, hardware and emotion, new memories and inspiration emerge, resulting in music that incorporates present and past identities.

I’ve been writing and creating electronic soundscapes—beats, bleeps, and everything in between—since 2000. Over the years, my work has explored the tension between structure and chaos, weaving together ambient textures, fractured rhythms, and subtle imperfections. Whether through sweeping soundscapes or glitchy, off-kilter beats, my music embraces both the polished and the raw, finding beauty in the spaces between.

Each project explores a different facet of my sonic curiosity. From sparse, atmospheric compositions to dense, rhythmic explorations, these projects reflect a fascination with contrast: simplicity and complexity, noise and silence, the organic and the synthetic. Each sound is intentional, yet always leaves room for the unexpected—an evolving conversation between machines and imagination. It’s music that doesn't clamour for attention but slowly unfolds, rewarding those willing to drift into its depths.

At the heart of it all is a love for the little details—the textures that hum beneath the surface, the imperfections that give a sound its soul. My music lives in the margins, in the quiet spaces and the sudden bursts of noise. It’s the electricity before a storm, the breath before sleep, and the fleeting warmth of light just before it fades. It's the beauty of restraint, the resonance of decay, and the endless possibilities of sound itself.

I "Renho" sono due ragazzi di Tivoli. Amici da tempo, scoprono pian piano una passione per la musica elettronica. Suonano insieme in diversi progetti musicali (“My Radio Boy”, “Il Gozzo di alcuni Uccelli”, “I Nuovi Ranger”)  esibendosi anche in numerosi eventi live dal 2007 fino ad oggi con la nascita di quest’ ultimo progetto nel 2018. I due si chiudono in una vecchia bottega di 35mq con vocoder, sinth e drum machine ed iniziano a registrare le loro prime idee su un pc. Le influenze sono moltissime e vanno aldilà della musica elettronica.
