Solid Steel (19th December) Coldcut return with a special 2 hour mix to end another great year on Solid Steel and a late contender for Mix of the Year. Matt Black steps up with a suitably broad selection starting with a laid back opening from Tokimonsta, Thundercat, Slugabed and The Free Design. Proceedings pick up with Cid Rim, Instra:mental and classic Smith & Mighty. Recent guests Distal and Peverelist both feature, alongside Untold, The Bug and Oneohtrix Point Never. Then we go deep with Miles Davis, David Axelrod and even Beethoven, before closing the show with Mr Fingers, Four Tet and Basic Channel.

Time to start Friday morning with a slice of abstract tranquility from Montreal based Stefan Jós who releases his debut album 'Primitives' on flau and raum shortly. Spacious, bugged-out electronics give way to sober crispiness. "The moody rhythms, wood and metal, weird noises in wet caves and other goodies for ground-dwellers and mole people alike."

Stefan Jós is Devon Hansen, a musician and video artist born and raised in Southern California.

Our third release comes from legendary Broken Beat and Drum&Bass producer Colin Lindo aka Nubian Mindz aka Alpha Omega. The man needs no further introduction as he is known for his brilliant releases on labels like Reinforced, 2000Black, Archive, Delsin and many more.

‘Hacker Wacker’ is hypnotizing with sharp beats, a dubby, bleepy, broken Techno vibe ready to take you on a sweaty late-night trip. 'Vox & Cymbal' is true listening bliss. 
A timeless tune centered around warm Detroit chords, downpitched vocals and spiralling synthlines, sending you on a dream-like journey.

In contrast, '2nd Chapter of 74' impresses with a bumpy bassline, kicking perfectly together with its clever swinging House groove. Once again, Colin's trademark synths provide that extra glance. Finally 'Break the Rules' is going off with a strong Techno vibe with chords pushing the tune into a dense atmosphere before leading us off into a mellow tripping end.

"Stories" is the first vibraphone solo album by Berlin-based Japanese artist Masayoshi Fujita, who also known as El Fog and a collaboration project with Jan Jelinek. This quietly exquisite album by Fujita, is like a book of illustration, painting 8 delicate pictures of small stories about the nature we are embracing….cloud, forest, river, swan and morning dews….things that we all are so familiar with, but yet so quaint.

Masayoshi Fujita’s style of solo vibraphone is uniquely inspired by classic and jazz music. In this beautiful album, in additional to some gorgeous strings and bowings, he also introduced some ingenious ideas in making unique sounds, like the usage of bead and aluminum foil on his vibraphone, like a prepared instrument. As such, “Stories” is a wonderful result of the beautiful vibration (of which the name Vibraphone came from) of all the delicate sounds produced in this album. They are poetic, they are melancholic, and they are lushly emotional.

Twigs & Yarn (Lauren McMurray + Stephen Orsak) is an ambient, found-sound, electronic dream machine duo. Using default sound recorder, cheap headset microphones, hand-made instruments, looping pedals, electric guitar, paper cups, quiet vocals and ftp servers, this couple makes a gentle harmony of sounds. They are story tellers that will weave you in and out of dreams.
