Angelia Word, under her expanded moniker, is an interdisciplinary artist and DJ. Inspired by 90s and 2000s hip hop and r&b, her artistry is heavily influenced by the rawness of lo-fi house and a propensity for the sinister. Her mixes hang in a delicate balance between the nostalgic, the goofy, her deep-seated anger and frustration at the systems of oppression that crush us, and desperation for a better future. Co-founder of Femmedecks, a collective and label that celebrates and empowers diverse artists with marginalized voices, Angelia has been praised for her work by Little Village Mag, The Gazette, KRUI, Press-Citizen and The Daily Iowan. She has been featured as a panelist, discussing ways that independent cultural spaces can support and enact intersectional justice work, and is currently studying Cultural Management & Arts Administration and Policy at School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her utmost goal is to shine a spotlight on up-and-coming artists that face challenges in the industry due to their gender, race and/or sexual orientation, and to construct inclusive spaces with high standards of safety for all artists and attendees.

"Creating this mix, I was brought back to why and how I fell in love with electronic music. It is the fastest mix I’ve ever made by far — spanning 148-170bpm. I’m still trying to find my voice as an artist, so many of my mixes are an exploration into what makes me move. But this mix in particular, I think, encapsulates the sounds that spark my fire — tracks that hit my heart and remind me why club music feels like home."

For his MUTEK debut, Nahash drew inspiration from Flowers of the Revolution, his Tides and Stockpiling EPs, as well as unpublished and exclusive material. Some heavy drums and airy synths created a makeshift jungle sound built from recycled drum loops and second-hand trance samplers.

Initially was going to re-record one of the sets I played at Cherry with my good bud Jerome earlier in the season but as those were designed to flow into each other’s alternating sets it didn’t feel the same. I also had to pry myself away from planning out some blends for use at Summer parties I’m very excited for.   It’s just generally been a moody and eventful season and it took some extra conscious effort and discipline to not procrastinate further and make good on my self imposed quarterly goal of putting out a mix every season, so it’s a little bit shorter and rougher than some of the previous mixes.   This one starts out as a house jam, flows through some gritty drum machiney capital X traX, a very funny Green Velvet song I heard in New York, and then flows into some of my mainstay weirdo bass music. Hope you enjoy. Should be a very fun Summer coming up soon enough.

J. Córdova is a DJ, promoter, and designer, originally from Milwaukee, WI, and based in Chicago since 2019. J. Córdova is the founder of the Reggaeton DJ collective, Agua de Rosas which currently operates in Chicago and Milwaukee curating alternative Reggaeton and Latin club nights for the Queer community. He is also a part of the Chicago label, Issa Party where he curates the mix series. J. Córdova’s DJ sets are known to span the club music corners of the world with an emphasis on hard sounds, mixing not only Reggaeton but also the large spectrum of Latin club sounds, Techno, Hard Dance, and beyond.
