FLEXAGON | Disco Gecko Series EP. 24 | 19/02/2023

DJ Basilisk returns to the ecstatic idealism of the early 1990s on TRANSMISSIONS FROM LYONESSE, the latest in an ongoing series of concept mixes documenting electronic music subcultures of the past. This time around the journey leads from scintillating ambient techno arpeggios and idyllic IDM to the raging heights of full-on Goa trance (and back again). Ultimately the aim is to capture some of the magic of the outdoor festival experience circa 1996, particularly in the UK and continental Europe. Many of these tracks are rough around the edges, and several have been lightly edited and remastered exclusively for this mix.

"This collaboration sees Mike Meinke of hugely successful Guernsey band Buffalo Huddleston, British Unsigned Band 2015 winners, join forces with electronic music maker Flexagon.

This is their first collaboration, although Flexagon remixed Buffalo Huddleston's track 'Waiting for the Right Song' last year.

Mike's work as a solo artist shows off his more experimental side, along with his trademark acoustic guitar playing and songwriting talent, whilst Flexagon always brings his flair for genre-bending digital artistry to the mix. 

This is their debut outing together but there is plenty more on the way from these two artists."

Flexagon is a Guernsey-based sound mangler and musical instrument collector. He is also a DJ, music producer, sound engineer and composer.

As a DJ he is known for playing long eclectic and psychedelic sets spanning multiple genres, equally at home playing ambient and chillout as he is with dancefloor-friendly music. Flexagon’s own music productions are increasingly esoteric and wide-ranging. Recent musical compositions have moved well away from four to the floor material towards the ambient and downtempo realms. Along with this has come the opportunity to compose for orchestral instruments. His first piece for nine string players, piano and found sound backing recording had its premiere performance in October 2018.
