Fluorescent Phobia is a symphonic rock quintet from Denver, CO.  The band’s energetic sound is presented on their debut EP Incandescence.  The five track EP is a demonstration of the sonic landscapes they have been carefully crafting since their formation at the beginning of 2013. Released in September of 2013, the EP features lush strings and robust guitar textures that spiral along with a playful and powerful rhythm section.  The vocals of Brittany Mahoney and Matthew Paradis intermingle together to build haunting melodies at the front of the 5 piece, completed by Tallon Comcowhich on bass, Brian McClung on drums, and symphonist Damon DuPont.  Their diverse sound is the sonic personification of a kaleidoscope, with various musical colors constantly rearranging themselves to create a mesmerizing experience for the listener.    

Slightly less than a year after forming, Fluorescent Phobia have played at a slew of shows around Colorado, and released a single, as well as their EP.  The band’s high-energy shows display their virtuosic musicianship, and their catchy grooves get audiences dancing.  They have performed at The Denver Post’s Underground Music Showcase in July of 2013, and have opened for national acts Widowspeak and Pure Bathing Culture.  Since releasing Incandescence, they have begun to work on a full-length album due out next year.     
 


If you find yourself stumbling upon this page and asking the question "who is Hippo Temple?" then you need to know that you are asking the wrong question young orphan. Because to ask "who" in regards to a metaphysical phenomenon is a fallacy. In this same light, you may also find that it is difficult to answer the question "what is Hippo Temple". It is equivalent to asking the question "what or who is love?". Hippo Temple resembles a collective, universal storm of violent sexual energy. Knock knock mr. stifler if you know what I mean... Its been said that those who enter the temple are making an ultimate decision about the path that their life will follow. If you feed the chickens grass, they won't come in for supper. You know what I mean? If you choose to partake in this energy, to harness the very substance that holds life on planet Earth together, you will find that your habits, attachments and illusions will evaporate.. If you want to know the truth.. the essence of why this universe appears to exist.. join us in our efforts to take down the man, throttle this spinning and meaningless disc of time and space that we find ourselves on and find the mandala. This IS a fanatical and uncompromising cult.

XI when i was a laddie, my first pair of genocides arose from a dirty secret. meandering through the waves, i took a sip and did not think. for it was a reminder of the sabbaths previous denture cleaning. cascading around streets of innocent, i stumbled upon a wooden cloak. nevertheless, i made this journey through ice and wine, so the fact that the ceremony lasted dawn wise was clear. proceeding, i took sharpen of the blade and made it speck. rinse rinse camouflage…

Ancient Elk represents a synthesis of various sounds that have informed a wide spectrum of musical styles that have been running through Denver. Reconciling seemingly incompatible ideas from its members differing backgrounds, the band threads together Americana, psychedelic rock, jazz and experimental music in an original way that is also incredibly accessible.
