The Queer Northern-Ireland born Cormac is back from another busy year as a label honcho and curator with the second Polari compilation No Tears In The Backroom Vol. 2 scheduled for release 31st of January 2024.

The compilation is filled with synth heavy swings, acid basslines, steamy vocals and lots of fun, making NTITB Vol. 2 the perfect entrance release into the new year.

Cormac says; No Tears In The Backroom Vol. 2 is a unique family with offerings from Polari hitmakers such as Jordan Nocturne, ROTCIV, & Louis de Tomaso as well as introducing new talent to the roster including DJ City, Nimmo, Shay Shaz, Hifi Sean, Joshua James + Xols.

I curate the compilation much as I do a DJ set, so there is a voyage of sorts in listening to the compilation as a whole. I encourage the listener to listen as you would an album, although they of course work solo as well.

A 10-track long journey forms a unique force of anthemic sounds, tapping into nostalgia but never pulling away from today's references. No Tears In The Backroom Vol. 2 serves as a dance-heavy pursuit aiming to not hold back.

The label profits from the new compilation are going to charity. Polari has previously raised money for All Out.

Doctors Without Borders is a politically neutral Non-Governmental Organisation whose main objective is to treat people in regions of the world where they are most needed. They are currently most active in Gaza and have a further 70 projects active in the world.

The refined Parisian imprint Epicure Records finally kicks off its 2025 season of delicacies with a powerful release by Newcastle-based artist Patrick Burge aka Port Manteau. “Titan” develops its prowess through three stunning originals and three blue-chip remixes made with love by none other than Keep Me In The Light, Patricio Diaz, and Vhyce. 

For those not so familiar with Patrick’s work, caveat emptor: The man is one of those producers with itchy fingers when in studio. Anything can happen, it will depend on the mood of the day. His House and Techno output suddenly gets more Progressive and 80s-infused, resulting in an alluring signature sonority. Well-received publications on Dischi Autunno, Saint Vaast, Toolroom, 10 Steps North, and Kitsch will give some north for those interested in exploring his catalogue. 

Premiered here, “Mugshot” is a fangy 128-BPM peak-time beast that perfectly combines melodic and progressive elements to deliver a deep Trance-soaked dance-floor experience. Alternating trippy and euphoric moments, "Muggie” is one of the highlights of the feast and is just a sample of the promising year ahead of both Port Manteau and Epicure.

Jo Kazan, a French DJ and producer now based in Barcelona, is the founder of RetroFuture events and Kazanova Club, as well as the Label Manager of Cabana Libre Records. Jo’s sound masterfully blends our favorite elements: Italo, Trance, and Dark Disco.

VLTN007 Blazing Freedom EP delivers a high-energy Italo trance anthem with an infectious vocal. The title track is paired with an emotional signature piece by Jo, complemented by three top remixes from CLOSE PROXIMITY, Amarcord, and Louis de Tomaso.

CLOSE PROXIMITY brings a fresh perspective to Blazing Freedom, stepping away from the Italo sound to deliver a 90s-inspired progressive masterpiece. With lush, atmospheric pad work and sharp, distant stabs, this track has all the makings of a serious dancefloor weapon!

What more can be said about the talented Italian artist Amarcord? Everything he touches transforms into pure Italo gold. With his signature emotive basslines and beautiful melody and rhythms, this remix is yet another stunning reinterpretation of Jo’s original track, Blazing Freedom.

FEINSTOFF PREMIERE: Jo Kazan - Blazing Freedom (Amarcord 'La Libertad' Mix)

 Hey Cabrera! is a DJ, producer and songwriter based in Turin, Italy. His sound is fluid and rubbery, often reflecting the current mood. Growing up with influences like The Stooges and Suicide, Hey Cabrera! spends his nights crafting indie-dance tracks that blend Italo, disco and house.

He garnered Italian radio airplay with the single "Ca Va? Je T’Aime!", an extravagant electronic nursery rhyme featuring DJ Protopapa and Emmanuelle. Having released numerous remixes, including for the iconic Italian diva Ornella Vanoni and even Euro-pop legends Ricchi e Poveri, his work has made its way onto esteemed Spotify playlists like Italo Disco, Glow and Poolside.

His first EP was released in 2024 on Bordello a Parigi, featuring two unreleased tracks, "Italo Void" and "Forelskelse" along with remixes by Lauer and David Bay. This was followed by another EP, "The Moment”, released by Frank Music the label run by DJ Johannes Albert.
 
Now it’s time for the “AI Agent Says Hello” EP, set to be released on January 31 through Feinstoff Berlin.

The main track is inspired by artificial intelligence: a buzzword for sure, but... Can you groove to it? With "AI Agent Says Hello" Hey Cabrera! reimagines the future through the lens of the past, crafting an uplifted song that feels both retro and ahead of its time.
