Pull up a chair and grab yourself a stoney peroni for this feast of feasts, the inaugural Segreti Di Famiglia from Boots & Legs. A seven-course meal with dishes from B&L mainstays, as well as some new guests making especially saucy debuts. 

First up, Romain FX returns to the cobbler’s kitchen with ‘Neon Train’, plating up some weapons-grade machine grooves, garnished with hypnotic vocals - guaranteed to whet your appetite. GREETINGS follows up this electrifying entree the introduction of the enigmatic ‘Flavio Zoom’, a cosmic search through robust and considered flavours. Newcomer Sam In Space makes a splash with mid-meal workout ‘Aerobic’, charismatic dark disco with an athletic flair. Things take a turn for the sampladelic with the strange and playful mutant funk of ‘Pre Club’ by Club Sausages, before an all-time classic gets an imaginative Italo rework with ‘The Rhythm’ by Black Feeling. Kayroy teams up with Imogen Cygler for a palette cleansing contemplative chugger ‘Eggna’, with dreamy arpeggios building to a dreamy crescendo, before Pleasure Voyage present final course ‘Return’, a fitting sunset synth-pop soundtrack that’s the bittersweet like the perfect negroni.

Black Feeling - The Rhythm

Ricardo Baez draws on many influences. Electro, house, synth-pop and italo are pillars of the Italian artist’s unique style. The Florence based musician arrives at the Bordello with On and On. Featuring Curses, the opener is a floor-filler. Known for his EBM-stained wave works, this vocal mix is a late night Summer romp. Crisp percussion and warm bass lines usher in addictive hooks and throaty vocals from Luca Venezia. The original version follows. Lyrics are stripped back allowing the upbeat synth play to take the limelight. Cascading notes announce the flip. “Sfida Notturna” is built on delicate drum patterns and arc of string before breaking to a heady dawn. “Dietro L’orizzonte” brings the curtain down. Toms and cinematic synthlines introduce rasping rhythms and vocoder samples. The piece is perfectly measured, fragile keys ascend next cymbal crashes and computer voice. Sumptuous sounds from the north of Italy.

Italo Brutalo unveils his latest maxi single "You Make Me Feel So" 

Prepare for a sonic journey into the heart of the '80s synthwave resurgence as Italo Brutalo drops his latest maxi single "You Make Me Feel So". This three-track release showcases the artist's ability in melding nostalgic sounds with contemporary beats, promising a feast for both vintage enthusiasts and modern music lovers. It also includes a stunning remix from upcoming star and label colleague Kay-Chi. On top of that all Bungalo Disco created very special videos based on the original Roland TR-707 matrix display to complete the audio-visual concept.

"You Make Me Feel So" (Original Mix): Immerse yourself in the infectious groove of the original mix, where Italo Brutalo skillfully utilizes iconic machines like the modded Roland TR-707 for drums, the Roland W-30 and Juno-106 for lush arpeggios and samples and the Akai MPC2000 for rhythmic precision. 

2. "You Make Me Feel So" (Kay-Chi Remix): The Kay-Chi remix takes the title track to new heights, infusing it with a contemporary edge. Expect a fresh perspective on the original enhanced by the iconic Kay-Chi style.

"Diaphone": "Diaphone" introduces a captivating divergence, incorporating the distinctive tones of the Roland Jupiter-6 and a palette of '80s effects machines such as the Ibanez Delay, Roland Tape Delay and Alesis Nanoverb. Italo Brutalo weaves a sonic tapestry that transcends time, merging vintage charm with modern production finesse. 

Vintage Machines, Modern Magic: Italo Brutalo's commitment to authenticity shines through in his meticulous use of classic gear. The Roland W-30 and Akai MPC3000 lay the foundation, providing rhythmic backbone and textural richness. The Roland Jupiter-6 infuses the tracks with its unmistakable bass sequences while the Juno-106 contribute to the lush, analog atmospheres. 
Time-Tested Effects: The maxi single's sonic landscape is further enriched by the dreamy ambiance of old-school effects machines. The Ibanez Delay adds a touch of nostalgia, the Roland Tape Delay creates expansive sonic landscapes and the Alesis Nanoverb brings a subtle yet immersive dimension to the mix.

Bestley’s sound and spirit align perfectly with what we’re building at Polari—a blend of innovation and homage to the roots of dance music. While house music is where it all began, before house, we had disco. Disco Drama is a pure disco anthem and a beautiful addition to our roster.”

This release also features a stellar dub remix from the renowned HiFi Sean, making his much-anticipated return to the label. His signature sound complements Bestley’s original, elevating the track to new heights.

Bestley on the creation of the release:

“Disco Drama was born during the lockdown, while I was navigating the end of a toxic relationship. It’s a song about escaping loneliness, confronting gaslighting, and yearning for something better. At a time when I couldn’t find solace on the dancefloor, I found it in songwriting. I wanted to channel the frantic energy of disco legends like Sylvester and ABBA, but I was still new to music production. That’s when HiFi Sean stepped in—he took my whirlwind of ideas and helped bring them to life. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve created together, and I’m so grateful to Cormac and Sean for their support.”

2024 looks even bigger and brighter for this rising star with an album in the works and the formation of a live show. Until then, Disco Drama will be released on October 4th.

Awesome Orientalists From Europa is an edits project dedicated to awesome music and new politics. Inspired by record labels and DJs that specialise in reissuing ‘world’ music, A.O.F.E. turns the tables on the perception of who is exotic by rediscovering obscure and forgotten western dance floor tracks. The music published in the project fantasises about the foreign, tribal and oriental, but was in its whole created in the west, for the west.

All profits from this release are donated to NGOs that fight Islamophobia, antisemitism and racism in Europe.
