Born in 1951 and raised in Alexandra township (north of Johannesburg), young Condry learned the guitar from his older brother and went on to play in groups such as The Anchors, Flaming Souls, and Flaming Ghettoes. After his son's unexplained death in 1980, he accelerated his initiation as a "Sangoma" (spiritual healer) and (after slaughering a cow to appease the ancestors) joined the famous Harari in 1981. Following the break-up of Harari he assembled a backing band for exiled artists such as Letta Mbulu and Caiphus Semenya and toured with Harry Belafonte. His extensive travels even earned him a spot on the apartheid government's national security watchlist. The late 1980's saw Mr. Ziqubu launch a successful solo career.

On edit duties is Swedish rising star @LeoAfEkenstam . In his own words;

"This edit came about during a very studio intensive period as I was working on an EP and an album at the same time. I always tended to fall back to this edit in between songs to break from that dreamy state of mind you find yourself in when working on original ideas. When I found this song I immediately fell in love with it. There are so many segments that are absolutely golden. All it needed for my sets was a bit more energy and restructuring. I ended up spending a lot of time on it, and so I thought it’d be worth sharing with others instead of just keeping it to myself. It goes without saying that all credit goes to the legend, Condry Ziqubu."

HRDF: How did you discover this track?
E & S: It's was our good friend Viktor #2 (Stankfejs), king of disco and other funky obscure stuff who found this track.

HRDF: Why did you choose to edit it?
E & S: He (Stankfejs) actually found 3 different versions of the track that all had their charm, so we decided to take the sweetest parts from each one and make it into one super edit.

HRDF: What are your upcoming plans?
E & S: We have upcoming releases on Bordello A Parigi, Playground Records & Feines Tier in the near future. Also, gigs are finally starting to pick up again. Last but not least, we'll have a bunch of juicy stuff for our own label Trampoliner as well.

As a producer based in France, initially Beatmaker/drummer in a live hip-hop band in the South-West of France, Ket'Mos now focuses on electronic music as soon as he arrives in the capital. Influenced by jazz and groove since his childhood, he performs in Paris with his project Mosleo, which often classifies him between micro-house trancy & electro-break. With his recent alias Ket'Mos, he changes his hat with a new Indie-Dance/ Dark-Disco project. This remix pays tribute to Bryan Ferry, the emblematic figure of the English band Roxy Music, who composed the track Dance Away.

For the latest addition to the Sinchi Edits series, Parisian crew @Disco-Bagarre tackle a lesser known track: "J’ai chaud" ("I am hot"), a french electro-disco song from the singer Sonia released in 1982. As a complete rework of the original, from the production to the vocal, this version slows the pace down, going from disco to dark disco with an ever-present touch of acid.

SINCHI EDITS 16 - Sonia - J'ai Chaud (Disco Bagarre Acid Re-work)

Pachanga Boys, Hippie Dance, TOPAZdeluxe, M.N. Roy and Mayan Warrior are some of the projects Rebolledo is involved in as “Experience Designer” sharing his forward thinking vision. Foremost, he believes in music beyond boundaries, collecting material from all corners of the world and showing how you can tell a story with those apparently unconnected records. His sound is propelled forward by psychedelic beats and rippling synthetic basslines that induce trance like states. Whether it’s his solo or collaborative efforts, Rebolledo has always been a maverick presence in underground dance culture.

Beyond The Struttosphere return to Gouranga in full force, two years following the release of their lauded debut EP, New Frontier. The title track of Astral Riders imagines the two cosmonauts burning through the atmosphere to a soundtrack of chugging metallic guitar stabs, syncopated arpeggiators and celestial 808 hits, coupled with an extraterrestrial vocal sample from the 1969 cult biker film, Easy Rider. The track builds in momentum, before propelling into cloud nine with a fully tranced-out crescendo. Remix duties are provided by two maestros of the scene: Mexican dark wave legend Rigopolar applies his signature formula to the original, stripping it back to its core components, and bolstering it with cosmic synths, driving motorik percussion and a Donna Summer style bassline that ramps up the groove. Israeli house aficionado Juvë delivers a second remix that draws on elements of deep house and comes loaded with distorted FX, ethereal pads and reverberating low-end synths that culminate in a spectacular drop. 

The second offering, Canyon Grit, is as gnarly and raw as its name suggests: this is full throttle dancefloor banger, commanded by a dynamic resonant chug bassline, reinforced with cutting snares, driving hi-hats, reverbed guitar loops, and Hendrix-inspired psychedelic 303 sequences that will leave you gasping for air. The original is backed by a stellar remix from Tiempo De Maldad, another Mexican stalwart, whose take cruises through hyperspace in unfaltering abandon, with kinetic drum workouts and spacey synths that navigate the tune to its tripped-out conclusion. 

The final track, Set Lasers To Stun, comes laden with intoxicating solo guitar recorded live on a vintage Stratocaster, deployed with euphoric Rhodes piano, galactic laser zaps, twanging new wave guitar chords, and the BTS trademark chug bassline. The EP closes with a remix from Rebolledo, head honcho of Burning Man’s Mayan Warrior and one half of the legendary Pachanga Boys. His contribution remodels the track into a dark and hypnotic desert trip, with dusty FX and dreamlike melodic pads that will no doubt teleport dancefloors into the stratosphere.

One of the safest havens on earth for high-quality Retro & Synthwave themes, Astrolead Recordings can’t get enough of publishing ace content. This time, Ilya Santana’s (SXDNS072) imprint welcomes to its interstellar roster Sam Britt. Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, the man of the hour adopted an alias that precisely captures the very core of his sonority: Sam In Space. With an avid ear to absorb and reinterpret the wealthy cosmic-infused sonority of the 1970s and 1980s, his sets and productions aim at delivering zero-gravity experiences to their audiences.

After a couple of creative edits released on XPRESS and Feinstoff, Sam’s first original came out last year on Boots & Legs’ compilation “Family Secrets”. These previous snippets of his work triggered some sort of expectation among the followers of his endeavours who were eager to know how his first EP would sound like – and it failed to disappoint: “Infinity” comes with three well-constructed originals which properly showcase the talents of the rising producer.

Premiered here, the title track comes dressed to impress: “Infinity” is a fat and groovy Disco-pounded cut with a buoyant gait and a space-inspired atmosphere triggered by hearty synth layers and powerful guitar riffs.

About the edit : " "I first got to know to this song via my friend Markus who introduced the Global Village's album to me. I fell instantly in love with the vocals and percussions of the Robenji Doom Doom track. In my edits there is always a functional reason why I start making one. The original track was too restless for my taste and I decided to make a bit deeper and darker than the original was. 
Vocals and percussion was the core and I made the edit around them. I added new drums and made new baseline and synth melodies. I did a massive restructuring in the song's structure and played with some effects. All the elements clicked together very well and fast I was really happy with the result. The edit works really well in the early hours in the club and also as played a bit faster in the peak time hours. Definitely one of the best edits I have made so far. "
