Dina Summer (@dinasummer), the Berlin-based collaboration between Kalipo (@kalipo-1) and DJ couple Local Suicide (@localsuicide), are back with ‘Revenge’, the second single taken from their upcoming debut album, ‘Rimini’. The track perfectly showcases the group’s retro disco influences and feels like a journey through time. It is a fun, groovy and melodic track with washed-out synth chords, bouncy bass lines, and staccato stabs that is perfect for any listening experience.
The project is fronted by Dina P, the Greek native who lends her vocals and thought-provoking lyricism to the act. She first started performing as a teenager on local radio stations, making waves as one of the first women DJs in Thessaloniki, before later moving to Berlin where she met her husband and DJ/Producer partner, Brax Moody, to form Local Suicide. Bavarian-born Kalipo is the third member of the group who started his music career as the producer and band member of the German electro-punk band Frittenbude. While the trio initially met at a rave at the Rock am Ring festival in 2013, they only began working on music together in 2019 and have since been refining their combined sound.

Their new 4-track ‘Revenge’ EP includes a radio edit and an extended album version with upbeat synth lines and warm summery grooves. The release also includes a darker, gritty saw edit with a driving saw bass and arpeggios and a stripped-back, pulsing dark disco edit with washed guitars and plucks. All the different interpretations of the track reflect the group’s varied influences ranging from 80’s disco, 90’s electro, new wave and downbeat.

Releasing via Audiolith (@audiolith) on the 6th of July, 2022, the ‘Revenge’ EP continues the nostalgic journey through retro disco sonics that is perfect for the vibrant summer season!

Up next on Glasgow's Sounds of Lava Lava is local producer Kieran Apter. He's the man at the helm of CB90 Dance Recordings, a label that's been home to the likes of Brain Dancing, Man Power and his own productions which touch on house, techno and acid. Now he brings a slice of the latter to SOLL with 'Begin Again', a hypnotic acid-driven cut carried along by raw, shuffling drum programming and a distorted vocal meditation, which is backed by a remix from another Scottish rising star, Liam Doc.

He smells the cigarettes, the beer, the red carpets on the walls. As he listens, the bouncer shouts at someone to turn off her phone's flash.  The music is getting louder and louder as a semi italo-disco bass semi-acid 303 machine starts to kick in.  He feels his body start moving.  He is being pushed around and around, and the atmosphere is becoming chaotic. As he gets close to the DJ booth, the music stops, and the world freezes.  A dazzling light appears. It burns in his eyes.  The DJ jumps over from the stage and lands flat on the ground next to him.  He is back in the desert. alone. In his hand, a small star waits. Or is it a USB drive?
