Why are there not more electroclash tracks made these days, you ask yourself? 
Well ask no more because Lunatic Records have dropped a track which comes straight from the most scenesterist of scenes, nasty analogue vibes clash with a killer beat, those distant distorted vocals which allow for just enough disorientation on the dancefloor. 
The EP veers into the industrial techno realm which is fine by us! En Direct's first solo foray into production reminds us of DJ Hell, Tiga, Miss Kittin and all the other classic tracks from between 2001-05 without ever swaying into cliche or pastiche or any other of those French words which as simply a byword for 'Passe'. Lunatic Records 6th release truly is the number of the beast. Do your self a favour, don't be unwilling.

PREMIERE | En Direct - Unwilling [Lunatic] 2018

We have the pleasure of premiering a track from the first compilation released by Oberwave – community, party series and label from St. Petersburg, Russia. Featuring seven original tunes made with love only by Russian producers, selected for their expertise in creating cold and dark music with gothic and erotic vibes, the compilation presents founder Morze (SXDNS151) accompanied by Etane, Gegen Mann, Disco Morato (SXDNS147/FREEDL015), XLR804, Lara Foer and Negative Datura. In their own words about the release: "Some call it 'body music'; others, 'dark disco', but you can call it whatever you want".

Moscow-based DJ and producer Disco Morato’s contribution to the compilation – Fulmina – is the real McCoy! A proper banger, devoted to ripping you off from your comfort zone and stranding you in the middle of a pulsating Oberwave-style bash so that you can experience all the forbidden pleasures that only a complex and obscure track can provide. Pulsating synth layers, menacing leads and a tough bassline were skilfully brought together by master Morato in this true ode to obscurity.

PREMIERE: Futuristant & Vicky Montefusco – Hugo (Oberwave)

Almighty St. Petersburg-based Dark Disco syndicate Oberwave releases its second compilation. If the first one featured Russian artists only, this time label boss Morze (SXDNS151) gathered also producers from other corners of the world: Collaborators from Spain, Belgium and Indonesia joined forces with the home team in order to deliver a powerful 10-track EP, focused on cold but danceable music filled with gothic and erotic vibes: Pullo remixed by Sunmantra (SXDNS181), Gegen Mann (SXDNS220), Namesis, Etane, Velax, WLDV, Hesperius Draco, Ogny, Штадт, and Morze himself brought together their personal skills and influences to give birth to another solid and vital compilation.

We were given “The Gaffer” by local producer Etane to review. His previous works can be found on other important Indie Dance/Dark Disco labels, such as Ombra International, Sulk Magic, Electrique Music, and Disque Discos. Besides helping with the curation of the syndicate, he also keeps himself busy playing in a synthpop band called Getsuga Tenshou (we checked on YouTube, it’s pretty cool). In his contribution to Oberwave Vol. 2, he combines darkness and groove, an interesting concoction of elements inspired by the musical aesthetics of the 80s – a trademark of his sonority. Shards of Depeche Mode, The Human League, Visage, and Bauhaus were noticed. A little bit of Gary Numan, perhaps. Independently of which influences he directly used, the outcome is definitely one of the highlights of the release.
