When I composed Devil Brothers, I wanted to make something super groovy, but I missed something, until I discovered the Nevilles Brothers a funk/soul American band from the 80’s. Their voice was the little element I missed, so I sampled it. And here we come.

After travelling to Central America BELLY DANCE SERVICES continues their journey further south: The fifteenth release of the Austro Turkish label is called TZANTZA. A genius joint venture between RANDOM ATLAS from Santiago de Chile and MARZIAN from Buenos Aires. The EP features saxophone player JOSÉ PEDRO CÓRDOVA as well as remixers CORNELIUS DOCTOR and OBERST & BUCHNER!

EP name-giver TZANTZA is an epic piece of storytelling filled with lively percussions, charming saxophone play and a captivating baseline. If this track were a movie it would be the Latino version of Stranger Things directed by David Lynch.

The remix of TZANTZA comes from one of Vienna's finest couples: OBERST & BUCHNER. Currently working on their album the co-heads of HEIMLICH MUSIC carved out a crunchy synth stomper that brings extra pleasure to every room.

With their second original track BARRICADA, the admirable trio from South America again proves their willingness to tear down barriers between traditional disciplines of electronic dance music. Therefore they simply just had to also give birth to a club version of this alluring obscurity. 

At last french producer, CORNELIUS DOCTOR added his unique touch to BARRICADA. The co-head of Lyons HARD FIST RECORDS checks in with a floor-filler or no, let’s call it a fancy boredom killer!

PREMIERE: Random Atlas & Marzian - Tzantza (Oberst & Buchner Remix)

The 25th EP on Heimlich Musik titled ‘Where The Rainbow Ends‘ is a powerful contribution by Barcelona-based artist Agle consisting of two original mixes and remixes by Theus Mago, Rigopolar and Hanzo & Yaman. 
Both original mixes draw on analog synthesizers and dramatic samples to create a dark cinematic atmosphere that appears even disturbing at some point. Like a fight between light and darkness, the title track combines industrial elements and Agle’s 
characteristic 80s aesthetics. ‘Vultures Circle‘ is a trippy journey evoking the feeling of being lost in a David Lynch movie lead by a mighty acid bassline. 
While keeping the cinematic vibe, Theus Mago adds some extra weirdness on his remix. On the other side of the spectrum, Rigopolar’s dark disco interpretation is clearly made for ecstatic moments. 
Based between Istanbul and Vienna, Hanzo & Yaman transform the original into a stoic march giving your belly a proper dance.

Slot Machine feat. Aydo Abay, the second single from Oberst & Buchner’s upcoming album Marble Arch  is settled in a colorful mixture of genres, styles and semblances to familiar sounds. The song floats between the sacred chanting of classic film soundtracks, 80’s disco basslines and vocoders, as well as pianos and reversed guitars derived from 2010’s alternative rock, a dramatic odyssey between Hans Zimmer, Pet Shop Boys and Radiohead. One can clearly hear the reference to the duo’s past as musicians in – and fans of – several indie post and progressive rock bands. Especially when the vocals of Aydo Abay, one of the most characteristic voices in German indie and alternative rock, well-known for being frontman of bands like Blackmail, Ken, Abay, Freindz or Musa Dagh, set in.
‚You are somewhere I am in between’ could be the words of the song itself, as it is hard to determine its classification. Nevertheless it all makes sense, as all the obscure elements form a harmonious interplay that is emotional and uplifting at the same time.

Mala Ika strips down the original to its bones and creates a sunrise soundtrack for early morning hours using a subtle bassline and a reduced drum set. 
Wiener Planquadrat go the opposite direction with their remix by keeping many elements of the original and adding some aggressive acid lines for some extra pressure. 
With two remixes rounding up the EP on both ends, the second single EP of Oberst & Buchner’s upcoming album pays tribute to their versatile musical past.

There were some unconfirmed, but very plausible reports of sightings of a crashed U.F.O. in or around Bogota, Colombia. And indeed, all the orchestrated government cover-ups in the world couldn’t make us believe that there isn’t a duo of weirdly Scandinavian-looking aliens strolling around that area. But, alas, they seem to be of the friendly, if trippy, kind.
What they seem to be mostly interested in, is handing out 808 space cakes and inquiring about nearby raves, absorbing influences of the indigenous culture on their path. First-hand reporters claim to having gone on extensive ayahuasca trips with them and binging hard on empanadas afterwards. So yeah, seems like nothing to worry here, they come in peace and bring the trippy shit!

Freie Sicht feat. Acud stands out with a catchy picked bass guitar, accompanied by a deep menacing pad. A punchy snare, that shakes the listener to the core, pushes the track into a disco/new wave style. This feeling intensifies as Lasse Winkler’s, aka Acud, lyrics start in the first break. The Berlin-based electronic musician, vocalist and label head of ’Keller’ is known for his musical aliases Acud, Beatmörtelz and Lasse Winkler. He is wailing, ‚Do you see me, don’t you see me, I see you, I don’t see you‘ throughout the track. On the face of it, a text of minimalistic simplicity, even naivety, but if you loo k at it more closely, they are words that are hard to grasp in their ambiguity and difficult to interpret. The well-known phrases become unfamiliar as he continually shifts the meaning by switching intonations. On the musical side the ease of a simple arpeggiator sequence is connected to sophisticatedly reverberated palm-mute guitar picks that form a vivid articulation of modern new wave. Tal Fussman’s interpretation of Freie Sicht is a hypnotic break beat banger based on Acud’s vocal and an arpeggiator line while the evolving arrangement peaks in an ecstatic climax. Shubostar delivers a remix with mighty drums and a powerful bassline while integrating vocals, pad sounds and guitars from the original into her signature sound. Both remixes come with dancefloor aspirations without losing the obscure vibe of the original and rounding up the third single EP ahead of Oberst & Buchner’s album as a whole.

Combining field recordings from all over the world with vintage synthesizers, Dan Bay delivers the 14th EP on Heimlich Musik, complete with four original mixes and remixes by Oberst & Buchner, Le Rubrique, Spaniol, and kalupke.

All original mixes are based on organic instrument recordings and a variety of percussion sounds. Adding melancholic synthesizer lines and classic drum machine samples, Dan Bay transforms original ideas into versatile dance music.

Remixing „One Night in Kerala“, Heimlich’s very own Oberst & Buchner give their energetic interpretation a subtle 80s touch, while Spaniol’s approach is taking the original on a hypnotic trip with a focus on the epic main theme recorded by guitarist Max Clouth.

Le Rubrique’s treatment of „Phishing Wales“ comes as a stripped-down version of the original with deep Dub Techno elements creating an ecstatic atmosphere, and Cologne-based Duo kalupke is rounding up the EP perfectly with their unique relaxed and dreamy style.

After Acud & Beatmörtelz started the „Verbrennungsmotor" two years ago, they are now marching towards the tax office. Snotty, cheeky and with the necessary portion of irony, the craftsmen plaster the tax and ask the justified question of their own share in the state's assets.

A music video was created together with the Current Dance Collective from Hamburg. With dancing powers and the facial expressions of two personalities, a story was told that exposes the song to a new field of tension and brings a surprising ending. Video premiere: July 31th, 2020.
