While this may be the debut release for the alias Laion, it’s not actually the first or even second release on Club Mackan by this Amsterdam-based producer. Lionel, aka Laion, is one of the brains behind thePhilosophica, who we’ve seen on the label with their hit “Grandma Jam” (as part of their first VA) and their acid take on Marcus Christiansen’s track “The Adventurer.” 

This time Laion decided to show up to the party alone, showcasing his fantastic talent for melodies and spicy arrangements with three original tracks. Whether it’s acid or piano house masquerading as italo or a combination of the two, you’ll find it here. And while we play dress up. We also have three very talented remixers, each bringing their own costume to the party. Let’s say hi to Bubs!

If you know Bubs, you know that this guy likes disco, italo, trance and eurodance. And what better way than to dress up Conquest Of Happiness in a rather fashionable but subtle Eurodance styling? That’s exactly what we get here, but still very much attached to the 80s.

After 3 years from his debut on Nothing Is Real, Astroloop is back with a new 3 tracks EP called “Chase The light”, this time with a strongly oriented dance attitude. The main song “Chase the Light” will bring heat on the dancefloor, with the catchy acid line and the chopped vocals. The producer touches on some different ways of production with “Hint”, a percussive banger with arpeggios surprises during the arrangement. The Italian producer Aheadacheaday made a remix treatment to ‘Chase The light’, giving a deeper character
preserving the acid soul of the track.

Gathering like-minded artists for a party: Easy-peasy picnic cakewalk task. Gathering like-minded artists for a compilation: Uphill-battle ordeal-like burdensome mission. Well, the rising & shining Swedish powerhouse Club Mackan did it... again! The second parcel of its “A Retro Futuristic Collage” series brought together seventeen talented producers and delivered one of the best VAs of the year so far. On board, old & new faces from the Indie Dance realm such as Marcus Christiansen, the label Prime Minister himself, Mundo D, Osccurate, Pianopoli, Karl Draum, TDWS, SLTBQ, Elysian Underground, Jo Kazan, Dog.ma, Beni Geier, and Miss Zagato, just to name a few, came up with some proper retro-cosmic-infused material for the occasion. 

The track premiered here marks USA-based TDWS’s very first appearance on Mackan. With previous works issued on Girlfriend Records and Sinchi, the promising American virtuoso aims the peak time with his frenzied fast-paced and upbeat themes. His 136-BPM “Tear”, for instance, presents itself dressed to impress with an imposing attitude tailored to please even the most hardcore fans of Trance out there. Frolic synth layers and progressive leads set the tone and result in one of the finest pieces of the batch.

After introducing himself in their last compilation RETROFUTUR, Levantine deploys his first EP for Melopee, aka the owl.

"Interdimensional Love Triangle" is a powerful cosmic italo track with a tense acid touch. In the distance stretches a melancholy melody. In the same vein as the eponymous track, "Fever" is definitively badass! Percussive rhythm, cosmic melody and poignant synth are the main ingredients of this dancefloor track.

"Ecstasy & Desperation" is a slightly more sensitive title but still very danceable. The bass and synth match perfectly. The atmosphere is highlighted with a spatial melody and some carrying pads.

Our favorite Berlin-based Austrian, My Secret Playground, is back. Once again delivering a sensational remix, he perfectly mixes his Disco origins and electronic music, while respecting Levantine's original music. Cosmic and lyrical !

To close the release, welcome to the talented David Garcet. The Belgian-born artist gives a nostalgic and futuristic breaky reinterpretation of "Ecstasy & Desperation." Dark, captivating, fiery!
