The early 2000s were a wonderfully creative time with lots of cross pollination between different musical styles, many genres we know so well today were formulating their DNA, unaware for what was to come. One such genre Grime was evolving it’s sound and this 2 hour mix revisits those early foundation days and the beats that were being made. Music from Youngstarr, Plastician, Black Ops, Hindzy D, DJ Charmzy, Slimzos, Geeneus and more, as well as some lesser known white labels.

Dudbridge Garage International co-founder LeftLeft returns with his second solo release on the label, with three new genre-dodging tracks bridging the gap between melodic and minimalistic club music.

Taking in influences from garage, techno, and bass-heavy UK club music, LeftLeft’s music sees swung, rolling percussion play off metallic synths and manipulated vocals, and on DGBI005 his sound has evolved further, experimenting with more melodic elements and different tempos to his previous releases.

Opener ‘First Word’ boasts a classic LeftLeft style beat, with sub-heavy kicks leading the charge, while a playful melody weaves in and out, and squelches and squeaks litter the track giving an uncanny, esoteric feel.

Next up is ‘Legging’, which is propelled along by sliding chords playing call-and-response with textured, pitched vocals.

Closing track ‘Zooki’s Return’ sees LeftLeft exploring new musical territory, with an altogether more laidback track influenced by trap and alternative R&B. It’s an unexpected end to the release, but one that shows LeftLeft’s plethora of influences and production skills.

These four walls were her sanctuary, an armour she'd built to protect her from the chaos of the outside world. By choice her days and nights were spent in isolation, it was exactly the way she liked it. She'd never cared much for other people, she preferred to live in her own imaginary world, where everything made perfect sense to her and her alone. In this bubble she felt safe and protected - there was nobody to answer to, nobody to give their unsolicited advise, she was the master of this universe.

Since their inception over a decade ago Hamburg imprint Couldn't Care More have been home to a roster of artists exploring deep, abstract electronics including the likes of A Sagittariun, Harmonious Thelonious and Stareaway. For their first outing of 2023 they welcome a new member to the family, NY producer J. Albert. The Exotic Dance Records boss and self-described "technologist" brings his distinctive take on deep, groove-laden house and techno for his config EP which is laced with airy, atmospheric pads, intricate sound design and tight drum programming.

Chintu is a Hertfordshire-based DJ/Curator. His project, Chintutang, started as a local hot sauce brand/art project for his homies during lockdown which later developed into a monthly linkup for 160 artists/DJs in London; forming a space for avid followers of the sound to gather around some decks, share music and stay practised over the summer.

He has since locked in a monthly residency with Brixton Radio which is the current home for the Chintutang project throughout the colder months; showcasing the city's talent, with a firm focus on forward thinking music and the fundamental eras that allowed them to exist.
