Joining the dots between Norwich UK, Paris, Oporto, Portimão, Lisbon and The Hague, the 3rd release on Photonz and Digital Tunes' joint-venture label Folding Spaces keeps its focus on raw, uncompromised dance music, offering six tracks of organic, often improvised Techno and Detroit-style Electro.

Starting with Lisbon's PeteBlas, a disciple both of Detroit House warmth and Berlin's austere Dub Techno, he offers us one of his first experiments in using analogue equipment, 'Oscillators', building up from a stripped down machine funk pattern to reach ecstatic, almost psychedelic bursts of sound, carrying a palpably spontaneous sense of experimentation and improvisation in a dancefloor context.

Hardware-obsessed couple hailing from the south of Portugal, Roundhouse Kick, take things fully into acidic territory with their track "EPM12"; a lush and spacious late-night tripper, enveloping over a 303 line that plays in hypnotic time signatures while warm and meditative pads float over raw, driving percussion patterns.

Having been solely a DJ for 6 or 7 years, it was only recently that Osti M put his hand into production, prolifically crafting raw, improvised machine jams with soul and a rough, spontaneous approach that seems invested in what's important: capturing the energy of the moment when inspiration hits. Workout is exactly this, a moment bigger than the sum of it's parts, sparse but alive and flowing.

Mharia is the semi-secret alias of one of last year's most celebrated new artists operating within the fertile field of experimental Techno - an easy guess if we mention labels such as Ramp's Fourth Wave or Opal Tapes. He's usually known for his atmospheric and melancholic romanticizations of the early days of Rave culture, but here instead he takes things to stark, Dreciyan Electro territory in great style.

Voiron's music sits somewhere near early Warp releases and the stark, experimental machine funk released by Aphex Twin's Rephlex imprint. His trademark sound is both basic - production is raw, with fairly untreated hardware synths and drum-machines - and musically complex, with baroque melody lines and dextrous compositional details. His track "Itinéris" is a great example of this ethereal and atmospheric type of electronic funk.

For the remix we've got a true legend from The Hague, Danny Wolfers AKA Legowelt; a man of unending aliases and projects, with a knack for compositions that trigger the imagination to wander around in the same mystical and occult imagery that he proclaims  to move him. He's been a huge inspiration to most of Folding Spaces roster and curators for many years, with a hugely influential body of work on key labels such as Creme Organization, Bunker or Clone, and is a huge honor to have him on board for our 3rd release.

DJ Soulshaper descobriu a paixão pela música na sua infância, mas foi na adolescência que teve o primeiro contacto com música eletrónica, frequentado clubs lisboetas. Desde então, este seu interesse pela música eletrónica foi sempre aumentando, o que o levou a explorar diversos softwares de Djing. Aos 17 anos começou a organizar pequenos eventos privados para familiares e amigos. Mas, com o passar do tempo, chegou à conclusão de que os softwares de Djing e ser auto-didacta, não eram suficientes para adquirir ou atingir o nível dos grandes profissionais.
Desta forma, aos 20 anos, frequentou um curso de DJ e Produção de Música Electrónica, na Escola ProDJ. Nesta escola teve como professor um dos melhores Dj's/Produtores nacionais, Viriato Muata. Este curso foi essencial para a apreensão das suas técnicas de DJ, tendo em conta que todo o curso foi ministrado em Vinil. Depois de terminar o curso, DJ SoulShaper iniciou o seu projecto musical que tinha como objetivo divulgar e partilhar os seus gostos musicais, e principalmente, para dar a conhecer o que de melhor existe na música eletrónica. O estilo musical de DJ SoulShaper define-se pelo seu ecletismo e pela busca incessante da música que ainda ninguém ouviu, e a suas princípais tendências centram-se, principalmente, em ritmos Deep House, Techno e Minimal. As suas influências foram e continuam a ser diversas, tanto nacionais como internacionais. A nível nacional uma das maiores influências foi sem dúvida, Master G (Kremlin Dj), mas também DJ Vibe, Viriato Muata, Carlos Manaça, Miss Sheila, Luís Leite, Mário Roque, etc. Influências internacionais, Richie Hawtin, Sven Vath, Dubfire, Josh Wink, Green Velvet, Dj Pierre, John Dahlback, Daft Punk, Chus & Ceballos, Moloko, Victor Calderone, Superchumbo, Danny Tenaglia, e muitos mais...

Com este projecto visitou alguns dos bares/clubs mais caracteristicos da zona de Lisboa e Margem Sul do Tejo. Tais como, Op Art (Alcântara), Music Box (Cais do Sodré), Bauhaus (Cascais), Nobel Club (Barreiro), Bite Me Club (Barreiro), Groove Bar (Bairro Alto), Porão de Santos, Francês (24 de Julho), entre outros...

Em 2011, DJ SoulShaper juntou-se à Escola de Jazz do Barreiro para aprofundar os seus conhecimentos musicais e para adquirir novas competências para o processo criativo de produção. Aqui aprende a tocar piano e tem a oportunidade de se apresentar ao vivo em algumas sessões de Combo.
Em 2015, DJ SoulShaper licenciou-se em Promoção Artística e Património, na Escola Superior de Educação. Atualmente tem um programa na rádio Utopia, FLUTTERS Radioshow e com este projecto teve a oportunidade de passar pelos mais míticos espaços da noite da grande Lisboa, Kremlin, ZERO, The Clubber, EKA Palace, Garage, entre outros.
