Born in Philadelphia, raised in LA and currently based in Brooklyn, club vanguard DJ Swisha is making some of the most exciting and vital dance music today. Hailed by the Washington Post as a leader in “a new generation of black artists reclaiming the roots of techno music,” the producer and DJ is a constant presence in underground speakers, whether tearing up warehouses with his Juke Bounce Werk crew or dropping legendary Boiler Room streams stuffed with Jersey Club classics, futuristic house and his own hybrid originals. DJ Swisha’s debut Fool’s Gold EP Nothing But Net shoots even higher as the purest distillation of his polyglot, polyrhythmic ethos to date: five dancefloor-first tracks including the relentless thump of “Methods” and “Fake Molly,” the hypnotic loops of the title track and “Reconstructed Club,” and even a vocal assist from fellow Philly icon Bahamadia on drum machine workout “Crypto.”
