The psych guitars and dusty breakbeats lure you into a zone, until you realize you’re in a whole new place hearing a novel voice. Frank Leone is a self-produced multidisciplinary artist from the woods South of Chicago. A bedroom prodigy who is just as confirmable programming beats, singing, rapping, as he is writing screenplays and creating animated TV shows. And while he has collaborated with artists as far-ranging as Gary Wilson and Sudan Archives, this new album reveals his face (literally) and places him front and center for the first time. Fans of Foushee and The Internet will undoubtedly be drawn into Frank’s supernatural meanderings into nature and love.

Following the success of " DEAD RIGHT" and "MORNING DEW" with Coco O., multidisciplinary artist FRANK LEONE stops by Valentine's Day with a beautiful cover of the iconic 1969 Gal Costa song "QUE PENA” ahead of his debut Fool's Gold album, FISH, coming this Spring. Enlisting additional vocals and guitar from instrumentalist hrlum, "QUE PENA” is a full-blown bossa nova song, true to form with acoustic guitar and string arrangements. Timeless romantic music, truly a universal language.

(Quadron, Tyler the Creator) and Hrlum lend a few brush strokes to these songs of longing, as Frank portrays the great pink valley that is FISH.

I’m super excited to announce this release. It’s a cover of a song by a fellow Afro-Filipino, Joe Bataan. His music first caught my ear back in 2009 when Ryan Kattner of Man Man played it for me. I was immediately hooked by Joe’s music because, to me, he represented the impossible--he felt so comfortable in his skin and he had so much confidence and appeal. I had the pleasure of meeting Joe at an incredible dinner with friends at Jeepney, a Filipino restaurant in New York City. Joe was at the center of the table, talking to us like we were family. I played Joe the cover that night through the restaurant stereo and he was so happy to hear that his music stood the test of time and reached me. Now, 45 years after the original song hit the airwaves, I’m honored to bring this song to new ears. Thank you for your support.
