WTF (World Transformation Force)

Soul Clap have spent two decades honing a uniquely soulful spin on underground house and disco sounds. How does a duo from Boston become a leading name in the global dance music scene? By emphasizing community, from their Crew Love artist collaborations (“music that challenges the mind, moves the heart, and sways the hips,” says Resident Advisor) to their DJs For Climate Action initiatives. In everything they do, Soul Clap live up to their name as empathetic selectors and heartfelt producers, a two man feedback loop eternally tuned into the frequency of the crowd. After a year like we’ve all had, it’s only natural those energies would be channeled into an album called WTF (World Transformation Force), out Earth Day (April 22 2021.) The World EP is the first broadcast from the album, featuring expertly crafted, deeply funky cuts like “Back 2 Love,” offering an uplifting dancefloor detox for the anxiety of our times.

Bondax keep to their 6 week promise with another new release – this time teaming up with Dur-Dur Band. The electronic duo are soundtracking everyone’s summer with a host of new bouncy rhythms and beats. After spins from Annie Mac, Nick Grimshaw and previous appearances at Creamfields and Bestival, Bondax are cementing themselves as powerhouses in the electronic world. With their unique and inspired synth pop sound, Bondax are blending with 80s disco act Dur-Dur Band to give us the send-off this summer deserves. 

Hailing from Somalia, Dur-Dur band were one of the most well known acts on the Mogadishu Disco scene at the time blending funk, disco and soul into one excellent package. 

A lovely mix of funky guitar, percussion and catchy hooks entice you into the weird world of Bondax and Dur-Dur Band. Taking music with bounds of groove, Bondax chop and add layer upon layer of electronic noise to produce a four to the floor disco banger fit for any club, pub or garden. Adding extra pump to the kick and worming a walking bassline into the beat, Bondax and Dur-Dur Band’s venture blends classic 80s disco with modern production through intelligent chops, samples and stabs to bring an old song to an entirely new audience. 

A replayable funky bop to keep your feet and party moving.

Athlete Whippets productions are simply encapsulating and their first outing on House of Disco is something a little different for the label. From the first track ‘Talk About This Love’ the London/Berlin duo draw you in with dreamy pads and submerged vocals and there’s this wonderful quiet energy that holds you and you don’t want to let go.

Their second original ‘Dreams Of Being Alone’ channels that same moreish energy but with a little more enthusiasm and joy. Skittering and splashy drum programming is offset by the wonderful playfulness of that marimba-esque synth which plants your feet firmly in the sand of some lonely beach. 

Shall we talk about the remixes? First up Demuja takes ‘Dreams Of Being Alone’ and whips you off the beach and onto the dance-floor adding a tougher 4/4 approach with some punchy strings to get you swinging while keeping that marimba front and centre. 

For the second remix we have Aroop Roy tackling ‘Talk About This Love’ and as expected this versatile producer has gone his own way adding keys, baselines and just generally doing something totally new and interesting.
