Yama Music Futures Radio Show - 15.10.24

Hailing from Vinica, a small town in East Macedonia, Mihail P (@mihailpetrovski) is part of a new generation of artists re-forging a vision of classical techno in their own mould. A student of Architecture and Design in his mid twenties, he grew up with sounds of Vangelis, Kraftwerk, Jean Michael Jarre, Pink Floyd emanating from the home stereo – which has no doubt played a part in shaping the resonance of his musical taste.

After discovering the sounds of UK and Detroit Techno courtesy of Timeline Radio and the Estimuloshow, over the last couple of years he’s struck solid links and friendships with Paul Rimbaud from Distant Worlds, Domenic Cappello and Verdant boss Andy Green who have all played a part in giving him a platform to develop his sound. In turn, exposing him to ever increasing circles and genres of music that he likes to immerse himself in. Between his studies and making music, Mihail likes to draw, especially using black and white ink – having found his way with the technique from quite a young age – it’s a hobby he also likes to indulge as much as he can.

Alongside the drawing, he does a lot of graphic design as a freelancer. As he puts it: “I’m a sucker for a good conceptual design, and am really into beautifully crafter records with sleeve art”.

Born on April 10, 1979, in Bahía Blanca, Esteban Pelaiz discovered his connection to house music at the age of 19, inspired by the local scene and the artists shaping his city’s sound. Since then, he has remained deeply committed to the vinyl format and driven by an endless search for fresh energy for the dancefloor.

His sets blend genres and eras with freedom and fluidity, guided by a versatile and instinctive approach rooted in his early years as a selector. His sound adapts, evolves, but always stays grounded in a sense of movement and authenticity.

Over the years, he has performed at events and venues such as Ctrl+Z, Shamuna, Soup, Paralell, Avant Garten, Spotless, Ressonanceroom, La Diana, Creamfields, South American Music Conference, El Domo, This Is Techno, Pryma, and Interdance, among many others—establishing himself as a steady presence in Argentina’s house and techno circuit.

Staying true to a way of understanding music through vinyl, Pelaiz continues to build his path from the booth—with intuition, sensitivity, and a deep respect for the dancefloor.

Dan Formless launches Saboteurs Sanctuary as an auditory expression of his Forward Movement studio in London, UK.

An avid collector of music gear with a penchant for vintage units, Dan has scoured the globe collecting rare studio machinery in a quest to create unique sounds. His travels have added further layers to an already rich canvas, painted by DJ exploits across major cities in Europe and Asia, alongside residencies in London nightclubs.

Focusing on solo music production, Dan has dedicated the last few years to his creative process liberation whilst experimenting with drum machines, synthesizers and effects. He is now sharing the results of these sonic explorations, delving into the deeper sides of house, techno and electro whilst staying true to his dubby minimal roots.

The inaugural ‘Actions Speak Louder’ EP hits the ground running with two original tracks from Dan Formless and a stellar remix from Alex Celler. ‘Nitty Gritty’ is a peak time brain melter with sizzling synth lines and intricate drum patterns occupying the A-side. ‘4Q’ weaves together syncopated rhythms and deep rolling bass lines on the flip side. These are punctuated by playful call-and-response synth motifs to create an enigmatic after-hours slow burner. Alex Celler offers a glitchy ‘4Q’ remix with his undeniable flair for fusing infectious grooves with futuristic aural landscapes in a late night exploration of modular electronics.
