Following the release of Fort Knox Five's second full length album, "Pressurize the Cabin", each track has been remixed and released as a single. In this process a few rare gems emerged, killer tunes which both Fort Knox Five and Qdup have been playing in their sets all year. After holding on to these exclusive remixes, FK5 is releasing these tunes in a two part lead up to the 100th release on Fort Knox Recordings, the “Pressurize The Cabin Remixed” album coming out this October. 

Longtime friend and collaborator Ursula 1000 was enlisted to remix Ready Go featuring Raashan Ahmad and has put together an instant classic. Those familiar with Ursula 1000 will recognize his signature indie/nu-disco sound, delivering a remix peppered with 80s inspired electro toms and funky grooves. 

After dropping a bangin' remix of See-I last year, rising talent from Victoria, BC, Palletz has reworked 24 Hours To Set It Off featuring Sleepy Wonder into a stomping breaks anthem. Crisp beats and 808 bass booms, combined with climactic trap snare rolls and reggae vocals have this track destined to rock the dancehall. 

This exclusive release is sure to get fans ready for the 100th release on the label, the forthcoming “Pressurize The Cabin Remixed” album. Instrumentals are available for all of these exclusive mixes. With sounds ranging from nu-disco to breaks, these two tracks will get the dancefloor jumping, so get ready to give up the funk!

The long awaited follow up to last year's "Open Season" mixtape, "The Harvest" is the latest from Canada's rising duo, The Funk Hunters. Packed with a ton of unreleased material, The Funk Hunters flex their production skills and unleash a mixtape that offers a snapshot into their recent live shows - exclusive original material intricately woven together with choice acapellas and key track selections that intelligently take the listener through a myriad of styles and genres.

"The Harvest " features never heard before bass heavy remixes of classic artists such as The Who, Neil Young, and Fleetwood Mac, as well as new collaborations with scene leaders such as JPOD, DJ Wood, Pimpsoul, Timothy Wisdom, and Livingstone &amp; Canosis. The Funk Hunters also introduce a new narrative concept to their mixtape, seeking out archived interview clips of some of the original musical acts that they have sampled or remixed and adding them into the mix, all alongside newly recorded vocal drops from The Rootsellers, Shamik, and Crystal Precious.

Rui Maia is a musician, live performer and DJ based out of Lisbon, Portugal, most notably known for his work under the Mirror People moniker under which he’s released material through Permanent Vacation and Discotexas. Here we see Rui push on with some fresh material under his own name and set to drop on his fledgling Belong Records imprint which has picked up support from Matrixxman, Danny Daze, Tiga and Justin Robertson over its last four EP’s.

Across ‘Fractured Music’ Rui Maia chose the starting pointing of using only analogue instruments, vintage drum machines, retro synthesizers and a reel to reel tape machine to create a raw, organic feel to the compositions. ‘Subvert Normality’ opens with rugged 4/4 rhythms, acid squelches and meandering arps to set the tone, while ‘Means of Escape’ takes things on a lo-fi tip via bit crushed percussion and vintage stab sequences.

Several tracks to follow retain a similarly frenzied, dropped tempo acidic feel such as ‘What You Wanted’, and ‘Everything is Changing’, while cuts such as ‘Walking For Days’ and ‘Captain Frozen Arpeggio’ delve deep into more dreamscape and computer game realms. ‘Don’t Give Up On Dreaming’ and ‘Silverscreen Factory’ also see Rui revisit his post-punk and Industrial influences with menacing drones, chuggy rhythms, metallic percussive hits and spaced echoing atmospheres.

This remix has been a special one for us. We came up with the concept and created it entirely on the road during the Canadian Ghetto Funk tour last spring. While squished together in the back seat of a small car winding through the Rocky Mountains and powering three laptops off one inverter, we found just enough elbow room to combine our skills and mash out this extremely catchy tune straight from the late 90s summer charts! It quickly became a staple set-closer for many JPOD and Funk Hunters sets and it's been a real treat to sing along with you at the end of the night whenever this gets dropped. We've received a great deal of requests for this remix, so we're happy to finally let this one loose as a Thank You gift for all the amazing support this past year!

This summer we were blessed with the opportunity to premiere our brand new 4-turntable Audio Visual show at Canada's legendary Shambhala Music Festival! 100% of our set was accompanied with live synchronized handcrafted visuals content and nearly all of the remixes, samples, and acapellas you hear within this mix were first turned into video files and then played live during our set on Friday night in The Fractal Forest.

Now home from summer festivals and about to embark on our Fall North American Tour, we've gone back into the studio to recreate the magic found in the forest that night in the form of this downloadable mixtape, so please DOWNLOAD and SHARE away!
