MINIRIG MIXTAPE TIME WITH JPOD!

JPOD is truly a passionate and talented beat chef. He is known for his unique flavor as well as having precise musical and technical skills. He plays many styles including glitch-hop, funk, world and breakbeats live-mashed together with samples and acapellas. He is also known for remixing unconventional roots music such as gospel, bluegrass, folk, swing, blues and more. When he plays his passion is contagious and quickly inspires others to join in the fun!
JPOD’s life has always been rooted in music. He was raised on piano lessons, jazz and worship music and began experimentally producing at the age of 15. He was then inspired by turntables and taught himself the movements of scratching before even touching a crossfader. At 19 he began DJing and instantly adapted his musical ear to mixing. He held a residency at Kelowna’s HiGHER GRoUND, has played shows and festivals all over western Canada, and has been a staple in the Fractal Forest at Shambhala Music Festival (Canada) performing both solo and in a duo called the StickyPod Connection.

Like any passion, JPOD’s DJ style continues to evolve. His goal has always been to do something different to keep listeners on their toes and to satisfy his artistic heart. In 2007 JPOD transitioned from turntables to Ableton Live in an effort to continue growing his DJ skills as well as satisfy his musical passion while backpacking South East Asia. His style now fully encompasses live remixing, effects and beat creation while maintaining the unique flavor he has always had.

JPOD has released music on his own label Swing Set Sounds and on other labels including Addictech, Omelette, ESL, Muti Music, Fort Knox Recordings, Simplify Recordings, Jalapeno Records and more. His debut album Halfsteppin was released in 2012 and he has released multiple EPs as well. He is also known to frequently create signature-sounding bootleg remixes that are always free downloads via his website.

JPOD has toured internationally in Australia, USA, Europe and Costa Rica as well as all over western Canada at many festivals and clubs and continues to inspire and encourage everyone he encounters. With all the requests to keep going there is no plan to stop any time soon. He guarantees to bring an interesting and innovative show with a little something you’ve heard before combined with something you haven’t.

Breakbeat Paradise Recordings is back with another big vinyl release from the amazing producer duo Lack Jemmon, which consists of DJ Clairvo and Kid Panel, who are both well-established producers, DJs and label owners on their own. Together they are an explosive cocktailed of big funky grooves, filthy glitcy basslines and banging beats!

Lack Jemmon has been around for a couple of years and quickly signed up with the successful ghetto funk label Scour Records where they have dropped a few tunes and remixes. When the boys reached out to us and said they had 4 bangers they wanted to drop on vinyl we didn’t hesitate to say Hell Yeah!

The self-titled EP showcases their style of heavy breaks and funky basslines perfectly across the 4 bangers that are tried and tested for complete dancefloor destruction.

A1. The EP kicks off with a big remix on the catchy Olly’s Heartbeat, which has been infused with some heavy duty basslines and some rocking electronic funk beats. Pure fire!

A2. The party continues on the second cut where the boys are really getting serious on another catchy riff and some party rhymes to go with the steady beats and glichy basslines. Let’s not forget the beautiful hook from the original 90s dance anthem to complete this perfect joint – Who’s Serious!

B1. Just as we though this couldn’t get any better Lack Jemmon cooked up another banger for the b-side called The Party Riddim. As the name suggest it harvests some big reggae grooves and vocals mixed with some party rocking beats.

B2. To showcase a different side to the duo Would You?! is a funky house arrangement with some smooth disco grooves and a party rocking rap acapella. A perfect way to end this double A-sided wax of bangers!
