This Fall marks the official 20th Anniversary of Fort Knox Five and to celebrate this milestone, the group has gotten some top tier producers to remix FK5 classics. Hot on the heels of The Allergies remix of 'Insight' is UK breaks 'n' Bass maestro Krafty Kuts, taking on the ultimate Fort Knox Five anthem 'The Brazilian Hipster.' Krafty does the impossible and injects the retro swagger of the original with some seriously fat beats and bass turning it into a dance floor monster!

Often it's just one song that comes to define an artist, becoming their marquee track. For Fort Knox Five that track is 'The Brazilian Hipster.' The tune became an instant sensation and party hit, appearing on the famed Hotel Costes collection and the soundtrack to the Academy Award-winning documentary 'The Cove.'

Krafty pays homage to the original track by incorporating Rob Myers' swanky Bossa Nova guitar lick, and those classic, heavy-hitting horn riffs while upping the tempo and the energy. He manages to catch a little of the laid-back magic of the original and turn it up - way up!

'The Brazilian Hipster' is far and away the most popular FK5 track on Spotify, and has earned a spot in the record bin of timeless tracks. With this new take on the track, Krafty has given us another chance to celebrate this classic on the dance floor.

Fort Knox Five is proud to present their latest single, “Whatcha Gonna Do” featuring Mustafa Akbar with killer remixes by The Funk Hunters and Father Funk.  

Fort Knox Five’s longtime friends and brothers in funk, Vancouver-based The Funk Hunters have delivered one of the baddest floor-rocking remixes ever!  This track debuted in the Fractal Forest at the 2015 Shambhala Music Festival where it electrified the masses and brought the crowd to a fever pitch. The Funk Hunters have injected their signature sound into “Whatcha Gonna Do” with big drops, huge hooks, and enough glitch and disco to make you put your hands up!  This is a guaranteed banger full of West Coast synths and chunked out beats. Easy to see why this one is already a staple of The Funk Hunters amazing live sets.

The next “Whatcha Gonna Do” Remix is by Father Funk, the Leeds, UK based producer known for his clever remixes and smashing edits.  Father Funk’s remix begins with Rob Myers’ retro wah-wah guitar and Mustafa Akbar’s soulful party chants then quickly escalates into a wobbly, bass heavy, butt-shaking glitch-hop monster! Hold on tight as Father Funk breaks it down, takes it back to the original soul vibe and then finishes strong with a deep groove.

The original mix of “Whatcha Gonna Do” featuring Mustafa Akbar is a quintessential Fort Knox Five slice of retro disco funk – straight from the ’70s – infused with tight, electronic production. The story of Fort Knox Five and Stickybuds goes back over a decade, funk is the glue that binds these brothers together, and they have rocked the same great festivals and shows across the US and Canada.  All of that funky party rockin' has culminated with Stickybuds' first official remix of Fort Knox Five, his reinterpretation of Give It A Minute featuring bcap. No doubt you have heard Stickybuds teasing the crowd with some exclusive Fort Knox Five acapellas and drops over the years in his legendary sets, but this opens a whole new chapter with his bombastic remix.

Stickybuds cuts right to the chase, as his mix opens up immediately to bcap's narrative verse and the relentless percussive synths that propel it over the hard hitting beats.  Synth pop sensibilities of groups like Oliver and Chromeo can be heard dripping over Stickybuds unique glitch-hop style production.  With epic big builds and organic drum fills, the remix rides the line between electro and classic funk.
