Set the Mood with OZUM!

It is an honor to welcome OZUM to the 33rd edition of Set the Mood. As the writer, I would like to introduce this talented DJ with Turkish roots, who delivered a fantastic opening set, skillfully setting the tone for the night. She achieved this by seamlessly weaving dubby sounds, extended melodies, and a dynamic interplay between 4x4 rhythms and other patterns.

For OZUM, the essence of a perfect opening set lies in the ability to craft an experience that resonates deeply with the audience. Her process begins with carefully selecting tracks, each of which she envisions stepping onto the dance floor herself, gradually finding the rhythm and attuning to the evolving energy as new faces join the space. She believes a truly compelling opening set should unfold naturally, letting the intro and the broader musical journey develop organically over time.

Originally from Istanbul and now based in Nijmegen, OZUM is a rising artist with a distinct musical identity. Her residencies at Planet Rose, Ravelution, and Blanco in Nijmegen have solidified her presence in the electronic music scene. Beyond these, she has graced the decks at numerous renowned venues and events across the Netherlands. Her sets are characterized by a hypnotic, powerful rhythm, underpinned by raw drone sounds, hard-hitting percussion, and ethereal pads, creating a deep and engaging flow that captivates her audience.
