For some time I have been working on a collection of acoustic guitar instrumentals which I’m calling “No stars on our flag”. English two step (https://soundcloud.com/foxasrabbit/english-two-step) is the first one I uploaded and this is the second one (https://soundcloud.com/foxasrabbit/last-day-of-winter being spontaneous doesn’t count). The idea behind them is to blend the American style of say John Fahey with the British style of the likes of Davey Graham. I know this isn’t new territory for the world (especially as the British folk revivalist where incorporating American influences anyway) but it’s new for me.

The title accidently comes from a Shakespeare play (Cymbeline Act IV, Scene 2):
  Arviragus. [To IMOGEN]. 
   Brother, stay here 
   Are we not brothers?
 Imogen. 
   So man and man should be;
   But clay and clay differs in dignity, 
   Whose dust is both alike. I am very sick.

It was not out of the blue he had been studying the work of early ones who left marks in the air.
