I had recorded an early demo of this tune in the 1990s on a TEAC 4-track cassette recorder playing a Yamaha steel string and later added classical guitar parts. Sadly I lost that tape. So I’ve reconstructed it digitally with new arrangements using my Akai keyboard or scoring it directly into my DAW editor.

A lot of synth guitars and keyboards set to hip hop beats at 85 bpm. 

Hard rainfall audio recorded live in December 2023.

Life is way too complicated, and sometimes there are no right answers.  In music, I can usually find my way to the end of a song.  When it happens, the reward is beautiful!   This is a remix that Tez did of a song JJ wrote, and we released a couple weeks ago. He extracted the coda, expanded it, and mixed an ambient groove into it. Basically, he took the sweetest part of the fruit and made a salad with it. Everyone is doing the same thing they were a couple weeks ago, except this time what you're hearing has gone through the filter of Tez's brain. It sounds like almost a completely different song now, and a really fun ride at that. Tez is into ambient music, so this touches on that proclivity, too. When all heard it on Christmas day, we decided immediately that we wanted to share it with all of you. We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it, and Tez enjoyed crafting it into something new.

This song began when Josh asked the rest of the guys if they'd be willing to put together a couple of songs for his father as a Christmas present. His dad is from West Virginia, and Josh was born there, too. The original version featured his son, Marshall, singing the lead with his dad, and hearing his grandson sing a song about West Virginia really meant a lot to him. Of course, everyone was enthusiastically generous in giving their time, effort, and skill to Josh's family for the holiday. This song also has special meaning for JJ and Ken in relation to their fathers, as well. JJ's dad has had a rough year with his health. He also is a musician who inspired and encouraged JJ to play music. His dad also likes this song, so it was fun for him to present it to him, as well. Ken, who's father never really supported his decision to be a rock and roller, loves this version of the song we did, and made Ken know how proud of him he is in regard to it, which really meant a lot to Ken, too. Also, we feel like we should acknowledge Artur's dog, even though Artur isn't in on this one, his dog loves country music and responded enthusiastically to this one.
  The story of the song itself is a little convoluted. After Josh asked for everyone's help, Ken laid down a rudimentary beat, to which Josh started the tonal part with the bass. Stephen added the guitar and banjo soon after, and Josh added the mandolin shortly after. JJ inserted his piano around this time, too. We pretty much had it working enough for Josh and his son to sing it for his dad. Tez mixed that version perfectly suited to the occasion. Then it sat for about a month, until we asked Mark if he'd get in on it, too. Mark not only sang it better the JD, but also arranged it so there is an instrumental break now. He also added the guitar lick at the very beginning. Ken took the opportunity of having Mark's great vocals to sing against to add his cunning harmonies. Then Mark, being the perfectionist that he is, noticed that the slide part was missing from the second verse. So, Josh added it. Mark also mixed this version, with Stephen doing some mastering at the end. 
  We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed putting this personally meaningful piece together.

Found this on the proverbial cutting room floor when digging through files for the remaster project.

It’s a bit rough round the edges but I thought I’d throw it out there. 

The mission audio is Apollo control reading a selection of news headlines to the crew whilst they are on the outward leg of the journey. A bit of banality during an historic event.

This song was written by Steve on the acoustic guitar. He passed it along to Ken, who added a sturdy rhythm guitar, as well as his always solid, dynamic drums to it. In short order, Ken got the rest of the Eclectic Collective together on it, starting with Josh, who added his five string fretless bass to complete the rhythm section. Next up was JJ, who's keys, both organ and piano, can be heard livening the whole thing up. Then came Tez with his fiery ripping guitar fills. 

  We were all blown away, though, when Stephen added his equally ripping guitar fills as responses to Tez's parts. It really sounds like the two maestros are having a conversation. Not to be outdone, Chris sprinked some of his magical guitar to fill in the spaces, mostly at the beginning. 

  Of course, we needed a competent producer to pull the whole thing together for us, especially with all the different voices in the stew. That person was Stephen, who was able to wrangle all of us and make it sound coherent, like the expert producer he is. 

  We all really enjoy working on Steve's songs, although it's been a few months since we did one together.  It's been proven many times before that if,you start out with something good, you end up with some thing great. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed making it.
