This was such a special time - the ustream show was essential listening/viewing. A really memorable moment was Jim playing Solar Cycle for the first time and being mind blown :)

As part of the process of exploring our relationship with this project, we put together a mix built around some own the concepts and inspirations behind Omura. Tunes that inspired us, in their original form, or reworked and reinterpreted to better reflect the way we channelled each other’s idea through the creative ecosystem that grew out of the album. 

The ecosystem represents a realm of pure creativity where ideas exist, on their own terms. They are there for anyone to discover but to do so, we need to step out of our usual patterns and spaces to find them. Omura was our guide to this realm and our guide once we had found it.

Divided into four sections, roughly corresponding to the different ecosystems Omura helped us to explore, the mix was initially performed live on the same mixing desk the album was built with in Hackney, before being bounced down and sent over to Bristol for further manipulation and processing. At each stage, further layers of texture and creative degradation was incorporated, mirroring the way we distorted and recontextualised each other’s musical ideas as we bounced files between our studios.

Om Unit & Laurent Fintoni ran an early online stream from their front room in Tulse Hill called La Maisonette Electronique from 2010 to 2013. It was a real community hub with artists from all over the world crashing at their flat while on tour and then playing on the stream. It was an incredible time of cross pollination of styles and really helped paved the way for me to make tracks such as Loving Touch and opened my ears to artists outside of my Jungle roots. We went off on a real deep conversation about music - Footwork Jungle and the LA beat scene, the effect of the internet and how community can continue to exist in an online sense.

As a producer, DJ and label owner Charlie Fieber continues to be an important figure in the development and innovation of UK electronic music genres with a career spanning over two decades. As Fracture, Fieber’s output is prolific and never stands still. From the hyper sped up Techno sound of Turbo to the genre blending Footwork Jungle collaborations with Teklife regulars DJ Earl, DJ Spinn and DJ Taso. He is constantly experimenting and flipping the script and 2022 saw the release of the world building Ambient Electro album Omura with Sam Binga. Releases and affiliations have come from some of the UK’s legendary hardcore continuum labels such as Goldie’s Metalheadz, dBridge’s Exit records, where in 2016 Fieber was part of the mysterious Richie Brains supergroup with fellow experimenters Alix Perez, Chimpo, Fixate, Om Unit, Sam Binga and Stray, and more recently with Alix Perez’s 1985 which saw the curveball collaboration with Kenyan artist Nah Eeto. Fieber’s latest work is his most ambitious to date; '0860’ is an album, radio station and interview series that explores the history and legacy of Pirate Radio and its importance in the development of UK underground music.
As a DJ his sound has travelled with appearances on BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, Boiler Room, Fact Mag, Rinse FM, Keep Hush and multiple US, EU, UK and Asia tours. 
In 2009 the label, Astrophonica, was set up as an output for his own music with Neptune and has since become a home for other like minded and experimental artists such as Sully, Client_03 and Moresounds. Fieber’s impeccable A&R has led to a flawless and in demand back catalogue championed from Annie Mac to Sherelle and with multiple nominations in DJ Mag’s Best Of British awards.
