Winter

After releasing the very much guitar drone based album "Haptics" album back in May, I decided that I should next do a release with melodies and a more positive sound at the forefront. The first track in almost 2 years that I've put together without the use of at least one guitar is "Scintilla". It's s produced purely on various different software apps and also with the use of a Micro Korg and a Yamaha Tenori-on.

"Scintila" is one of the tracks that will be featuring on the new EP "Iridescent". Clocking in at 11 and a half minutes, It's one of the longest tracks I've written, but also one of my most unique ones to date In my opinion. I always like to try a different approach to song structure and used the melodies in this kinda as building blocks if that makes sense. Stacking them on top of each other until at one point during the song they were all layered in alongside each other before fading back out again.

The Canticle of Brother Sun, also known as Canticle of the Creatures is a religious song composed by Saint Francis of Assisi near or around 1224. It was written in an Umbrian dialect of Italian but has since been translated into many languages.  

This contemporary composition by the same namesake mirrors the unqualified love Frances had for all creatures, great and small. 

The song along with reflecting on verse can have a profound effect on the inner soul and being of those who seek a journey of peace and calmness.

In May 2015 I released the underwater concept album "Moana". It's my interpretation of a journey from the waves through the depths of the ocean and back to the surface. The album covered many different styles and moods. Mainly ambient, drone and techno.  I uploaded the tracks "Deep Blue Solace" and "Sonic Depth Finder" to soundcloud last year.

A year later and I've made a new bonus track for the album. "52 Hertz" is more along the lines of sound design rather than an actual structured track but in it's 11 minutes it manages to uphold all the elements from the Moana album into one soundscape. Headphones recommended.

Here's a demo of "Private, I" from the upcoming album "Honne and Tatemae". This is only a demo of the song. I hope to re-record it again soon. I just wanted to get some new music up on the page.

I understand that the words are probably quite indecipherable to people and i also have a bad habit of mumbling. So here are the lyrics:

Abstract Counterpoint Improvisation (disquiet0474)
Getting together through music,  in times of isolation...
I recorded here (France)upright bass over the duet by Chris Ledwidge (Ireland): piano and Michael Ash Sharbaugh (USA) synthesizers. 

I improvised over the original track twice, first take was a disaster, second was slightly better but still I couldn’t figure out what the piano was doing so my notes are bad and my timing is also bad.
 I mean, I'm following the sort of pulse but I'm not playing in the right spots, I'm afraid...


So, to save the thing from the trash lid I decided to label my ramblingness as an “abstract impro”, a tag that can excuse or justify many “out of focus” things. I added another thing that I use to bury sloppy things and pretend they are avant-garde brilliant statements: Valhalla Supermassive.
And I did a very creative use of the Delete button
