One of the first old time tunes I learned "The BOatman Dance"
Recorded in a home studio overdubing banjo, guitars, bass, and uke.

Fiddle & Banjo: Tunes from the North, Songs from the South is the collaboration of fiddler Karrnnel Sawitsky, and banjo player Daniel Koulack and featuring vocals by Joey Landreth (from The Bros Landreth). This album explores the creative possibilities of this classic old time palette; both by creating new fresh arrangements of traditional music, and creating original compositions that have as a seed the sensibility of these traditions. It is a unique creative collaboration of instrumental styles, imagery and storytelling.

[old time] Rock the Cradle Joe

The street the song is named after "Calle De Las Ursulas" is in Salamanca, Spain. I spent three months there back in my youth and wrote the tune in its honour. Larissa O' Grady and Douglas Kelly are playing violin and cello respectively. I'm on the Spanish Lute, or Laud.

The track is on my first album "Songs From An Outpost." 
I'm mixing another  "Where Splendour Falls" at the moment. Made me think of this tune from the first cd. Speaking of Cd's (or lack of) the new venture will be released on digital download and vinyl only in the coming months.

FrailerKino is the lo-fi folk project of Juan Cordero — a collection of ghost songs, borderland memories, and warm sounds for quiet rooms.

These aren’t covers. They’re fragments. Postcards. Bits of melody passed down, half-remembered, and re-recorded with tired fingers and an open heart.

Drawing from Mexican classics, Appalachian ballads, and worn-out American anthems, FrailerKino isn’t about nostalgia — it’s about what songs leave behind. Each track is stripped down to its bones, often recorded in a single take, with the room left in — hiss, hum, breath, silence.

This is music for empty houses. For the in-between spaces. For people who still believe in melody, even if it wavers.

FrailerKino isn’t here to revive the past — just to sit with it, kindly.
