Unfortunately when you have countries with huge populations ran by greedy power obsessed little men (read; China, Russia, India) who couldn't give a flying Frak then we have no chance

My World

On May 18, 1981, the New York Native, then America's most influential gay newspaper, published the first newspaper report on the disease that became known as AIDS.
Next month, on June 5, 1981, the CDC published the world's first clinical report on what became AIDS.
It's hard for us to realize the change this had in the world at that time. COVID had a similar "scare" on the population recently. But the "Free Love" of the 60s and casual sex of the 70s was quelled pretty damned quick. Relationships got weird. People were shit scared and all sorts of hate emerged

Promiscuity

On December 5, 1945 a group of five TBM Avenger torpedo bombers disappeared over the Bermuda Triangle. All 14 airmen on the flight were lost. The designation of the Group was Flight 19. Strangely the Mariner flying boat that was launched to search for Flight 19 was also lost including all 13 crew members.
The opening 6 minutes of the legendary Steven Spielberg film Close Encounters of the Third Kind also features Flight 19 supposedly being found in the Sonoran Desert in Mexico decades after their disappearance.

In March 1989 the tabloid Press published a story of that the House of Commons had given security clearance to the Call Girl Pamella Bordes. The allegations stated she was involved with the then Minster for Sport Colin Moynihan. She also reputedly was involved with Tabloid Press Editors Andrew Neil and Donald Trelford along with billionaire Arms Dealer Adnan Khashoggi plus various celebrities. At the time there was a real concern that she could bring down the whole acting Government. But, as usual, the old White men that ran everything came out whiter than white - although looking a little tawdry. Familiar?
