About Film:
The Beekeeper (Greek: Ο Μελισσοκόμος, transit. O Melissokomos) is a 1986 Greek drama art film directed by Theodoros Angelopoulos. The film is the second instalment in Angelopoulos's "trilogy of silence", preceded by Voyage to Cythera and followed by Landscape in the Mist.

The Beekeeper was nominated for the Golden Lion in the 43rd Venice International Film Festival. The film was the first of Angelopoulos's to use an already well-known actor, in this case, Marcello Mastroianni, who by the time has won the Best Actor award at the 1970 Cannes Film Festival once and has been nominated for the Best Actor at the 50th Academy Awards once.

Zahr is an ensemble created by Italian pianist Francesco Turrisi and percussionist Andrea Piccioni. The primary focus of Zahr is the influence that arabic music has had in many countries touched by the Mediterranean Sea. Zahr combines Italian traditional music, Arabic and Turkish music with contemporary European jazz.

העיקר בחיים הוא שתהיה לך דיעה מוקדמת על כל דבר ודבר. ואמנם מסתבר שדעת ההמון מוטעית, ואילו דעת היחיד לעולם צודקת. יש להשמר שלא לגזור מכאן כללי התנהגות: ככל הנראה את אלה אין צורך לנסח על מנת לנהוג על פיהם. רק שני דברים חשובים באמת: האהבה, בכל צורה, עם בחורות יפות, והמוסיקה של ניו אורלינס או של דיוק אלינגטון. השאר היה צריך להעלם, היות שהשאר מכוער.קומץ הדפים שלהלן, הבאים לשמש ראיה לדבר, נוטלים את מלוא תוקפם מן העובדה שהסיפור הוא אמיתי מכל וכל, שכן הוא פרי דמיוני מראשיתו ועד סופו. הביצוע עצמו עומד בעיקרו על הקרנת המציאות - באטמוספירה משוחדת ומחוממת - על גבי מישור התייחסות בעל גליות לא אחידה הגורמת עיוות. למותר לומר שאם יש דרך פעולה כשרה למהדרין, זאת היא.

An original pianist, multi instrumentalist and musical conceptualist, Francesco Turrisi has been described as “a musical alchemist” by The Irish Times. Turrisi’s Mediterranean roots harbour a deep grasp of popular and classical traditions that sweep the centuries. A graduate in jazz and early music from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, Turrisi is a treasurer of the folkloric and a fearless explorer of new sonic realms.
His mastery of the traditional allows him to dissect and reimagine ancient melodies in bold new settings that seduce and surprise. The music on his four CDs as leader and two as co-leader isn’t easy to define – drawing from early music counterpoint and bass ostinatos, evocative Mediterranean modal melodies and scintillating jazz improvisation.
His ability to rework ancient melodies and rhythms through a contemporary jazz prism marks Turrisi out as one of the most striking voices to have emerged on the European jazz scene in the past decade.
