Producer extraordinaire and sonic explorer Adam Pits graced the Sauna in late Spring with this other-wordly mix that we've had on repeat ever since. Adam's mix evokes feelings best described using his own beautiful and poetic words:

Hi y'all! The fifth Hyperborea session features our guest @markusguentner, a German electronic composer with over two decades of evolving ambient sound, known for releases on Kompakt, Affin, and A Strangely Isolated Place.

In this session, Markus drifts through expansive ambient textures, blending together luminous drones, melancholic melodies, and subtle rhythmic undercurrents. It unfolds as a deeply atmospheric journey, balancing intimacy with a sense of vast, timeless space.

For this installment, Rotterdam’s notorious Betonkust steps in with a blistering 30 minute guest mix charged with wild emotion and unrelenting energy.

In Bed With Bats w/ Betonkust: 8th October '25

The fire at the center of the floor was more signal than warmth against the countryside chill. Sparks shot upward into the night as dancers circled around, bodies locked into the pulse spilling from the booth. Above Below Festival thrives on these elemental juxtapositions: a rural valley transformed into a site of intensity, a cocoon-like booth channeling waves of sound that felt larger than the space itself. With every kick drum, the edges of the night blurred, and for hours the crowd existed in a suspended orbit around light, heat, and rhythm.

It was here that Timesplitters, Jake and Pat, took hold. Their set drove forward on cavernous bass, but the force alone wasn’t what bound the floor; it was the shifting mid-range voices, synth lines and melodic sequences mutating like smoke from the fire, wrapping dancers in a narrative of tension and release. They approached the set less as selectors and more as authors, tracing the night with a balance of discipline and wildness. Despite their name, there was no split in time, only the sense of one continuous current, shared in firelight, smiles, and unbroken motion.

“For this mix, I really enjoyed digging and finding tracks that spoke to me without setting too many boundaries in terms of genre. I wanted to let things flow naturally, to follow a feeling rather than a structure. There’s a strong presence of 90s cuts throughout — records that carry mind-trip energy, nostalgica, expensive and deep sounds, which felt right for this one.”

Artisan Dub Soup - IV

In my mind, Jamie has curated some of the finest and most elegant deep dub and immersive ambient music and to achieve it so consistently is truly impressive.   Particularly with his Silent Season project, I was introduced to many new producers with some of those then becoming part of my Verdant Recordings family.   

We've exchanged music and thoughts since the early releases of SS but this is the first time i've hosted a set on this cloud so undoubtably, this is a very special moment for me. 

I wanted "Dub Soup" to present music from across and beyond the dub techno spectrum and this set fulfills those aims superbly....    Thank you!
