Glitch Mob Opening Set

I’ve been hearing about this Vancouver Island festival for years from some of my favourite people.  One of B.C.’s most beautiful beaches, well curated diverse lineup focussing on Island Talent, while pulling some big names.  I missed the deadline to apply last year, and wanted to be sure to come on strong this year.  I mixed this one time in my studio based on a closing slot I performed at Kwench’s Halloween Jam a week previous.   It was a sweaty mess and I figured it would be a strong demo. DJ Surgeon - Bass Tan 6 (July 2020)

From a young age Freebound has always been fascinated with all types of music. Growing up across the water from Detroit, the sounds of Mo Town were the first strong influences of his musical journey. You would find everything from hip hop, soul, funk, alternative rock, blues, classical music, celtic, folk, or bluegrass in his tape player. His deep and unbiased love for music followed him to the West Coast where he fell in love with electronic music and festival culture at Shambhala Music Festival. 

Benny has been staying busy the last few years playing 4 years at Shambhala, 3 years at Envision, Bamboo Bass Festival, Bushwacked, The Tree Planters Ball, Rock the Block in Cumberland, and numerous other clubs and festivals along the West Coast from Canada to Los Angeles.  

He's been managing The Radio Stage at Bass Coast, The Pagoda at Shambhala, The Boog at Boogaloo, La Brisa at Bamboo, The Lapa stage at Envision, and The Grand ARtique at Lightning in a Bottle. 

Benny is also the Co-Founder of Lickity Split - a Burning Man art car that hosts a wide array of international dj's and hands out thousands of ice cream cones and freezies on the playa, 

He has recently entered into a collaboration with Shinji called Dr. Suits, make sure to keep an eye on this project. 

Being constantly surrounded by such a wide variety of the freshest music around has kept him constantly changing, evolving, and fine tuning the music he is passionate about and the sound he strives to deliver. He also loves you and hates writing in the third person
